Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s surge in the polls is sparking attack ads.

Last week, an outside political action committee supporting Rep. Michele Bachmann launched a series of ads blasting Mr. Perry. Now, Rep. Ron Paul, the other Lone Star State Republican in the 2012 GOP presidential contest, released an ad titled “Trust,” laying into Mr. Perry for once being a Democrat and supporting then-Sen. Al Gore’s 1988 presidential run. It paints Mr. Paul as a strong supporter of President Ronald Reagan and labels Mr. Perry “Al Gore’s Texas cheerleader.”
