Oregon: Republicans turning out in higher percentages, but more Democrats have voted

I have fresher numbers on Oregon ballot returns than you'll find on the secretary of state's website, so I'd better share them, right?

Bottom line: Republican turnout so far is ahead of the Democrats. Some 36 percent of Republicans had returned their ballot, according to statistics as of late this morning. In comparison, 33 percent of Democrats had voted.

Of course, there are a lot more Democrats in the state. So these figures show about 46,000 more ballots cast by Democrats than by Republicans sitting in elections offices around the state
