You might need to brace yourself for this one. The White House is celebrating Mothers Day weekend with a tweet that applauds free birth control. From the White House Twitter account:
"Thanks to the #ACA, 1 in 3 women under 65 gained access to preventive care—like birth control—with no out-of-pocket costs. #HappyMothersDay,"
Because nothing screams “Happy Mother’s Day” like a box of contraceptives. But, there is more to the innocuous tweet than a disturbingly misunderstood interpretation of this Sunday. And I, for one, would like to know: where are all the feminists?
What happened to the good ole days, when Feminists stood for “independent Women” and self empowerment? Are we, as a society, supposed to view women as beings incapable of family planning? Are women so powerless they haven’t any ability to restrict their sexual urges, or pay for their own “preventative” care? They, according to the Affordable Care Act, are incapable of carving out nine dollars per month to spend on their own family planning. According to the Liberals in DC, women are helpless beings who need government to hold their hand like a paternalistic guide through life.
In fact, this administration’s uncanny ability to declare government dependency as a monument of independence is mind boggling. During last year’s presidential campaign, Americans were introduced to Julia. The Liberal poster-woman. The series of cartoons chronicled the multitude of ways Julia leaned on the helpful benevolent hand of government to go to school, get a job, raise a child, retire, and everything in between. Apparently, without the ever helpful Obama Administration, Julia would have been left wandering in circles – lost in an eternity of helplessness. (After all, the cartoons never mentioned parents, family, friends, a husband, or even a church. All her support was thanks to those ever caring liberals in DC.)
In an ode to the Julia mindset of American Lefties everywhere, the Obama Administration tweeted a celebration of free birth control. (See, I’m not supposed to care what you do in the privacy of your own bedroom. . . I, as a taxpayer, am however supposed to finance it.) As if preventative care was something only a government program is capable of providing en mass to the public. Planned Parenthood – which, ironically, caters mostly to women who failed to plan appropriately – must be proud.
I guess it takes a special kind of mind to think women depending on government for birth control somehow fits the mood of Mother’s Day. So here’s a Happy Mother’s Day message to the group of Americans that don’t consider our government the provider of our wants:
Happy Mother’s day. Thank you for being the strongest women in our lives. (And thanks for staying away from the “preventative services” long enough to bring us into this world.)
