The Secret Service Says Adios to Padilla

Remember when Sen. Alex Padilla (D-CA) bum-rushed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem at her press conference in Los Angeles? Well, you might because y’all are news junkies. No one else cared for one of the most transparent stunts in recent memory. It was an obvious PR trap: get some federal agents to rough up some no-name Democratic senator, which would then lead to him dropping some authoritarian talking point that never resonated. And this got quickly overtaken by the airstrikes in Iran and the shooting of two Minnesota lawmakers.

The incident occurred last week when the Los Angeles riots were escalating, firebombs were being hurled at police, rocks were being chucked, and federal troops were being deployed to restore order. 

What’s more entertaining is the Democrat reaction—it’s as if all the communication directors for these clowns on the Hill scheduled these posts. Yet, the first sign of trouble that Señor Padilla was a pendejo was when the legacy press couldn’t carry this water. CBS News and CNN all said it looked rehearsed. The video is clear that Padilla never introduced himself until after the Secret Service dragged him away.  

My man, you got the lecture on identifying yourself when you’re not wearing your pin. The “you don’t know who I am” defense doesn’t fly because it’s true—no one knows who you are, ese. He tried to shame Noem, saying what it tells you that she didn’t recognize him: absolutely nothing, man. You looked like a lunatic, and Noem wasn’t finished with her presser. You acted like a deranged protester, and her security detail can’t tolerate that nonsense.  

It also did nothing: federal troops are still coming to Los Angeles. The media didn’t buy it. And the “No Kings” protests were overshadowed by the rampage of a deranged man who shot two Democratic state lawmakers. We’ve moved on, Alex. Also, you got treated like anyone else who would’ve bum-rushed a top government official with a security detail.

What a waste of 15 minutes of fame. It was botched, much like the governance in your home state.
