De Pasquale’s Dozen with Former U.S. Spokesman to the U.N. Richard Grenell

This week the final Presidential debate will focus on foreign policy. Conservatives have many great leaders on this front, including Richard Grenell. I was fortunate to meet him at the Republican National Convention in Tampa this year. Having followed his career and TV appearances, I jumped at the opportunity to interview him.

Grenell served as U.S. Spokesman for four U.S. Ambassadors to the United Nations during all eight years of the Bush Administration. In 2009, Grenell founded Capitol Media Partners and makes numerous appearances on Fox News as a foreign policy expert and political consultant. He also briefly served as Mitt Romney's national security spokesman. In addition to his insights on TV, he’s prolific on Twitter. Follow him at @RichardGrenell.

I asked Dana Perino, fellow Bush Administration alum and co-host of Fox News’ “The Five,” for her thoughts on Grenell’s leadership. She said, “Ric Grenell is the definition of solid. He had been one of the best sources of information for me and many others for years. When I ask him a question, I know I can take his answer to the bank. He is thoughtful about how to help people understand the context of complicated issues, and he will not give information that he hasn't already double-checked. It helps that he has a mind like a steel trap. Plus, he's someone that I would call if I ever needed help of any kind. He's a true friend. A man of honor and integrity who stands by you no matter what. Just look at how awful some people were to Amb. John Bolton - and not once did Ric go wobbly. My admiration for him is boundless.”

Perino added, “And he's so darn handsome, to boot!”

As the longest serving spokesman for the U.S. Ambassador to the UN, there is no doubt that Grenell is dedicated to serving his country. There should also be no doubt about his commitment to conservative principles.

12. Tell me about the moment you decided to enter the political arena.

I don’t actually remember but it had something to do with my 1987 college internship on the Hill. My dad knew our local congressman from Western Michigan and hooked me up with an internship in his Washington, DC office when I was a junior in college. The job was brief but the experience was lasting. I was fascinated with the serious work and the energy of the staff. It was addicting to be a part of something larger than me and my worldview.
