If you want to help women’s “health” in this country then the best thing you can do is make sure that the U.S. has a vibrant economy, centered on good-paying jobs.

Lost in the record-breaking regulatory hurdles that Obama has put in the way of our economy, this basic truth seems to be a principle that the administration is anxious not to talk about.

For good reason, too.

The number one enemy of women’s health is a poor economy, and when it comes to the economy, Democrats are responsible for the worst recovery since the Great Depression. For all the rhetoric about who really cares about women, the Democrats can’t produce the goods.

And it’s not, as they would say, because they haven’t had the resources either.

Consider this: We’ve out-New Dealed the New Dealers.

Spending by the government as a percentage of GDP is double what the government spent as a percentage of GDP from 1931 to 1940.

In fact, this year’s government outlay will exceed the outlay for federal spending in every year of World War II with the exception of 1944 and 1945.

According to usgovernmentspending.com, government spending this year will make up 40.3 percent of GDP. According to Barry Ritholz, during the top spending years of World War II- 1943, 1944, and 1945- federal spending as a percentage of GDP was 39.61 percent, 41.56 percent and 41.54 percent, respectively.

In the 10 year period between 1941 and 1950 we averaged 32.4 percent of GDP on government.

In the last ten years, we’ve averaged 36.4 percent of GDP on government.

When liberals say that we’ve spent too little, frankly it’s just a lie.

A convenient lie for them, because a lie is all they have.

And when they say it's all the fault of George Bush's wars, well that's a lie too.

If they wanted to help women, they’d give them, and their families, jobs- good paying jobs.

But instead they want to continue to exploit women.

That’s why Obama continues to talk about birth control and reproductive rights. That’s why he attacks the Catholic Church’s stand on family planning.

That why he tells folks that the darned rich are taking more than their share, and because of that families suffer.

But really?

I’ve known quite a few politicians from both the left and the right. The very idea that they have some especial kind of regard for anyone other than themselves is laughable.

Governments aren’t invested with moral qualities; only people are. This basic understanding of the world is one of the distinctions between the loony left and conservatives.

The truth is, the only ones who really care about women are people: husbands, sons, daughters, mothers and fathers.

When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

Christ from the cross didn’t say: “Woman, behold thy government program that loves much!”

Do you really think the SNAP program cares anything about women other than using women to expand their budget?

Do you really think Obamacare is going to save women’s health?

When they sat around the table dreaming up Obamacare, they weren’t talking about the relationship between a woman and her doctor. They were talking what governments talk about: dollars and cents.

So, yes, let’s have the debate about issues that women care about.

I think it’s overdue by conservatives.

And on the merits of the case, Democrats will lose.

Because if they really cared about issues important to women, they wouldn’t have to lie about the biggest issues facing women: the economy and jobs; they wouldn’t have to savage every woman conservative that speaks out on issues with the stereotypical “dumb woman” arguments that should be left in the 1950s- or never should have been argued at all.

I know; it doesn’t seem right that the economy and jobs are the same issues that worry men.

But maybe that’s because the differences between men and women, black and white, rich and poor are much smaller than some would have you believe.

No lie.
