Mike Rowe from 'Dirty Jobs' is a sensible guy. He might not be a hardcore MAGA supporter, but he’s willing to engage with people, hold rational views, and be all-around normal. This last part might seem unusual today, but the Left and the modern Democrat Party, which is going through a radical shift, are full of odd characters. The remake of the hammer-and-sickle symbol is also a complete scam. Rowe pointed this out on Bill Maher’s show on Friday, noting that the socialist comeback is being driven by elitist anger over college debt that’s largely worthless. It’s mainly college-educated individuals; this isn’t a typical working-class rebellion. It’s more like an upside-down Russian Revolution, where the tsar’s close circle is throwing a fit. It’s not the same thing. Yet he also understood why it was happening.
“We said borrow whatever it takes. Go follow your dream. And then go get your dream job. And that was a bunch of nonsense,” Rowe said.
Mike Rowe completely dismantles the “worker uprising” narrative behind the rise of socialism inside the Democrat Party.

Rowe pointed to one statistic that shatters that narrative: 59% of Democrats who support socialism have college degrees.

ROWE: “I don’t know if you saw this, but the stat that got me within the democratic party right now, 59% of Democrats who support socialism have college degrees.”
“40% who support socialism don’t.”
“So this thing that’s being called a ‘worker uprising,’ it’s really not. It’s not.”
“This is happening because a lot of people with a really expensive credential are in the hole in a big way.”
“And they are pissed. And I don’t blame them honestly.”
“You can say what you want about it, but they took our advice, man.”
“They took our advice.”
“We said borrow whatever it takes. Go follow your dream. And then go get your dream job. And that was a bunch of nonsense!”
This interview is based on Rowe’s viral post about this subject, which did not sit well with liberal America. That was also discussed, along with how Rowe’s friends, some conservative and some liberal, went crazy because he spoke to Bill and Glenn Beck in the same week.
Not the way I planned on spending my afternoon, but 7,600 comments should not be ignored! Bots, trolls and personal attacks notwithstanding, the critics of yesterday’s post were dominated by a large and vocal contingent who rushed to remind me that there’s “a difference between… pic.twitter.com/UpGqqLBa2j

Mike Rowe tells Bill Maher he shared Maher’s monologue about how socialism is devouring the Democrat Party because he felt it was “really important.”
— Overton (@overton_news) August 8, 2026
Rowe says the clip obviously resonated with his audience because there are more than 200,000 comments on his post.
ROWE: “I… pic.twitter.com/NgZM90W0PTROWE: “I shared your monologue from last week.”
MAHER: “Oh yeah.”
ROWE: “I thought it was really important because you didn’t accuse anybody of anything really.”
MAHER: “Just quoted.”
ROWE: “You quoted.”
“So I put this up on my little page and I wrote what I wrote.”
“And we have over 200,000 comments on this thing.”
“You hit something that’s so primal right now.”
“And for me…I don’t really have a dog in the big socialism hunt specifically but I’ve got one in workforce.”
“When I look at 400,000, 500,000 open jobs and I look at those 7 million able-bodied men not even looking at the jobs at all…”

Mike Rowe tells Bill Maher that his conservative friends “lost their minds” because he was talking to him…and his liberal friends “lost their minds” because he spoke to Glenn Beck — in the same week.

That was the exact moment Maher interrupted Rowe with a legendary one-liner… pic.twitter.com/1pN2ucVaGkROWE: “You know what?…”
“It was truly the first time, though, I realized I don’t think people are listening to anything I’m saying. I think they’re looking at who I’m sitting next to.”
MAHER: “Yeah, people don’t engage… I make this complaint all the time.”
“I just say to people whenever they criticize me, are you engaging with the idea?”
“If you are, we are good.”
“If you’re just saying no, you’re old, you’re White, you’re this, you’re that, or on the other side, you’re Black….”
“That’s not the idea. Engage with the idea!”
ROWE: “What a concept!”
Somewhere, in some basement, there are illogical leftists foaming at the mouth, aghast that Mike Rowe has revealed himself to be a Nazi. And by that, I mean an all-around, reasonable guy, a true patriot.
