Look, Caroline Sunshine did toss out a bad take during the Graham Platner fiasco, but she struck a nerve here on CNN, and it was all the right people who got triggered. It’s delicious to watch, pure rage bait. Sunshine called Anthony Fauci a “textbook sociopath,” and the entire panel imploded:

CAROLINE SUNSHINE: Forget about prosecuting Fauci; the guy should be in a mental institution. He's a textbook sociopath.

CNN: What?!

SUNSHINE: DSM-5 level sociopath running our pandemic response. Low empathy. Ability to inflict pain on innocents. Narcissism. 

*CNN explodes*

SUNSHINE: Let me read the diary entries for you, verbatim!

*Meltdown continues*

PHILLIP: What are you talking about? He should be in a mental institution for having an ego?

SUNSHINE: He writes in his diary in the pandemic when Americans aren't allowed to see grandma dying of COVID, what is he writing about?! 'The media is so hot for me, I've had so many interviews, so many articles written about me.'

Also, Sarah Matthews, no one cares that you worked at the Trump White House. You're a turncoat who also is apparently happy that Iran knows how to attack aspects of our infrastructure.

Now, things could have been framed differently, but the diary entries do expose an egomaniac who also coerced federal workers to win cash prizes for him. He knew the vaccinated could get infected with the virus in 2021, and it seems pretty clear, or at least it’s not a crazy suggestion, that he made medical decisions based on how the media would boost his ego. He also knew that the COVID pandemic was likely caused by a lab leak, but worked diligently to bury that information, which was vital to the public.
