Uncivil Unions

Great Post, Skep, I read it while hiding out in here from Hillary!Shhhhh!!

True confessions time...

I have been Business Agent of a federal employee union local. My father was a old union guy and he told me that the quickest way into management was being a really good shop steward. He was right. I was very good at it and it took about two years before management realized that they just had to have me on their team.

It didn't come a moment to soon. Mustering all of that phony outrage, and keeping a straight face, is not easy.

The problem with it all was finding out that management was just as screwed up as the union. I left to going to business after about 3 years. I have never regretted it.

OK..

"go into" not "going". I hit the space bar trying to correct this and it posted???

Sarge

The quality of management in most corporations that I've seen is enough to turn anyone into a raging anti-capitalist.In the old days the studios I worked for were smaller and run by people who were former artists and knew what they were doing. Not any more. I'm in a union and we have a sensible business agent who sticks to his job of enforcing the contract and doesnt get into any crusading. The previous one was different and cost us jobs. The steel and auto unions have hurt their member's long-term interests just like the Public Employee unions are constantly pushing to expand the government to the breaking point, which we have now reached.

Right On...

I am dwindling down from another monumental job in corporate America. I like my job, but I can make more money doing freelance.

Upper Management is so out to lunch, it is beyond sad, it is pathetic. Also, there are two departments in the company that don't get a long and they are vindictive to each other. It is hard to imagine that so called mature adults can act so outrageous and get away with it.

Love Pelosi's outfit. That was yet another great image that I looked at after I put my Diet Coke down.

Pelosi what a peach you are.

Animal Farm

At the end of Orwell's 'Animal Farm' the pigs and the farmers were indistinguishable. Thats what's happening with those giant corporations; they're so huge and unmanageable that they are starting to resemble government agencies.
