Prekindergarten for all 4-year-olds and nurse home visitations to help new parents develop parenting skills. NURSE HOME VISITS?! Hillary is one SCARY "progressive". I would sooo not answer the door. LOL!
And in MHO, prekindigarden is nothing other than government funded daycare.
I'm with Mr. Weyrich, John Mccain needs to get more specific! Unless of course he can't......

hey I just got an email...can't remember at the minute who the commentator was but did he take McCain apart!! He was quoting Rush who found fault with Mc's speech. He is as far from being a conservative as he can get!
LOL I translate misspellings, don't worry.
We don't have a good choice and it's going to be a rough few years. Hope we live through it without giving away the farm.

This is a hard subject. I think everyone deserves to be educated, but it's not one of our constitutional rights. Certainly our central government isn't going to make it any better by interfering. We the people need to demand quality education through the market, and not through government.
Choice is never a bad thing, but REAL choice is even better. Having to choose between schools that make concessions in curriculum to meet certain government guidelines isn't real choice, at all. Letting any form of government say, "Your teacher has to meet these requirements, or your child will be forced to go to a government school" is antithetical to personal freedom.
Homeschooling should be what government is protecting. It seems like somehow, somewhere, it all got turned backwards.
Citizens in various localities joining up to build schools and hire teachers was a very good idea. That's the way the free market works. If you can't afford something on your own, you team up with others to meet the funding demands.
Why did we think it was a good idea to put this ever-so-important task/responsibility in the hands of our government?

I agree wholeheartedly. I have been saying in here that the federal govt has no business being involved in education There should not be a Dept of Education. But then there should not be a lot of federal depts.
I do feel that children are being taught the wrong things in school nowadays, but I have not been in classrooms for a lot of years and I only go by hearsay. What I hear I don't like. I don't believe that sex or the homosexual agenda have any place in the classroom...that I know for sure.

You're right the fed gubmint has no business being in our school system. If I had a young child ready to go to school, that child would be home schooled or sent to parochial in order to avoid the onslaught of socialist schools and teachers who are educating our children into Marxists robots.
More money! NO, NO, NO!!!
More money has been throw at the system than we can ever count. It's the system that is failing. These kids are not learning the basics, like reading, writing, arithmetic. Instead in our public schools they learn how to use condoms, what it means to be gay, and report on their parents if they are doing something "wrong".

You have it exactly right! I am glad I am past child-rearing age!
Our daughter home-schooled her daughters until she got a job in a private religious school and then they went there. Our kids went to parochial school until it was time for high school, and one told us recently that she was so glad she had got a good education in that school. Meanwhile I taught in a public school. :-)) but before the present secular attitude.

I went to Catholic school for 12 years, then to Nurse's training at a Catholic hospital.
There is nothing better than a parochial education IMHO because we had to do our work, the nuns put up with no shenanigans. Discipline was strict and merciless. But, we learned and learned well.
We could pray in school. In fact we had to go to Mass before school everyday.
I'm past child rearing too, but I fear for my grand children, ages 5 and almost 4. My son however is just as right wing as myself and if he finds out his little girl is being taught about gays in kindergarten he'll march up there and probably get the police called on him.
He will not put up with this stuff they teach in public schools today. He would like my daughter in law to home school but she is a teacher herself in the Cinti State Univ so she does not want to take the home schooling on. She may change her mind later though when the kids start bringing books home on how to put condoms on cucumbers and the like.

Now I see where you got your good sense from!
My husband was just saying he feels that it was a good thing for our girls.
I wasn't brought up Catholic but school was a heck of a lot different in my day. By the time I had kids I was convinced that my husband's Catholic upbringing was the way I wanted to pass on to them. And I am glad I did.
Good luck with your grands!! It sounds like they will be watched well!
I feel so sorry for all the children in this country with the liberals teaching them and the union supporting them.
They have just been talking on TV about a high school which was supposed to have Iraq vets come and talk and the principal called it off.
Now he is saying it is because of security! but the police say there was no problem. He must just be one of these anti-war, anti-Iraq, liberals! I get notices all the time about these things going on all over the country.

Yeah, I heard that story about the Iraq vet being banned from that high school. It had nothing to do with security. That is one lame excuse. We all know exactly what is going on in this country with the libs and their hatred of the military. It infuriates me.
But, that same school would no doubt let that nutjob Ward Churchhill on campus to spew his anti Americanism.

The really sad part of this public education system we have, if you can call it education, is that the ones who are getting short changed are our children; not learning the basics to get through life and get good jobs. And, then these liberal candidates have the gall to say our children are unable to compete with other countries. Well, DUH!!
Liberalism is a mental disease, and they can't see how nuts they are.

and Bill Gates says he needs the immigration laws looked into because he needs more foreign technicians! With all the people in this country we don't have enough techs??? If not, why??
And yes Churchill has been welcomed at colleges where the really far-left liberals are.
My favorite curse words are" politically correct"
You realize we are both, as they say, preaching to the choir. :-))
