thoughtful analysis
Pretty on the mark.
Yet if it were put to lefties what percentage of people really decided the election they'd shudder and run, before claiming "the president has no mandate." If there are more parties, like UK, is America ready to see an election won with around 30% of votes? It would depend who it was no doubt.

There are extremes on both sides
As sane people on the Right cringe when their nutters make racist and naive remarks...I believe there are an equal amount on the Left that roll their eyes up whenever that race, gender, or class card is pulled.
The trick for both sides is to keep their crazies quiet long enough to convince the Middle to add their numbers to their side.
The UK has their own third party wannabes but basically they are like us...Torys on the Right, Labor on the Left.

They gained Nancy Reagan?
The "tantrum" cost the RINOs their only source of power: the GOP majority and now NONE of their issues will be addressed to their satisfaction INCLUDING the war, the economy, and the courts.
And to "check" the Dems on the major issue of war, the GOP has to pull out the widow of their conwervative icon...
Oh...I see what you're saying. Bush and Karl Rove is really playing it smart. The GOP majority which the RINO press was trying to control got neutralized when the absolutist failed to produce in 2006. The Dem Majority has their own nutters to deal with. And Bush brings out his "queen" to get back to the real issues.
Nice.
This is really going to drive both hard liners crazy.

I'm glad you
figured it out! Yes, the immigration tantrum cost us big time.
Laura continued the tantrum this morning with an interview that the President of Mexico gave in Germany. I was telling my sister, Sheila, that I don't understand why the RINOs want to make an enemy out of Mexico! It would be nice to keep a friendly country on our Continent! Bush's plan which he didn't back away from on Tuesday, is the best one.

I really think
that all we have to do is fine the companies that hire illegals using false SS numbers, and illegals in general, and end citizenship for illegal's babies, and that'll pretty much take care of the illegal problem we have.

Our 2 biggest trade partners
are to the South and the North but for some odd reason, they want to make enemies out of them over some second or third generation Mexicans.
By the way Sandra, it looks like the GOP is going to be torn apart...there's the immigration absolutists and the war absolutists.
McCain and Brownback have thrown in the appeasement towel. Both are not supporting Bush on the war.
Geez.

Sheila...
I admit to having very little personal interest in the immigration issue as I do not live near any border (except maybe the ocean)...but I do have one "absolutist" issue: abortion.
Yet, even that issue is trumped by the war.
Losing Congress more than lost the immigration issue that you care about...it may cost us the war, the economy and the courts.
So let me ask you...(and you've got less than two years to choose) close the borders or win the war against Islamic terrorism.
If it's the latter; then you have got to put your issue on the back burner and support the only side that wants to win the war.
