It would be a long stretch to reach back for Carter people who didn't also become Clintonistas. The Clinton people are really all the democrats have by way of "experienced" administration types.
The internal political struggle would be fun to watch but you know the press isn't going to report trouble in Obamalot.
Hill will have an easy time building her fiefdom over at State since Rice kept most the Clinton people in place.
I'd love to know who influenced this decision but we probably have to wait for the first disgruntled Obamaite "tell all" book.

Oh they won't report any trouble in Obamalot. That would be a knock to the chosen one. On a daily basis, we are going to see the kids running around and under the desk in the oval office. Oh, the wonders of the presidency. How neat for us. Every day we can see a new picture. Yipeee! Kodak moments galore.
As for Hillary, I still don't get this choice. Did I miss something? I am with you, who influenced this decision. Can't wait for the first tell all book to hit the stands. Oh wait, Obama probably made everyone sign papers that they never could write a book. But, it will leak on YouTube!
Still think these confirmation hearings may be entertaining!

It is hard to believe she is actually going to take the job. I thought she would stay in the Senate and when he messed up she would say what she would have done differently. Therefore, setting up a Ted Kennedish run for the White House in 2012. Now that she will be in the administration she will take the hit as well. It does not make any sense, but than again, has the entire Clinton-Obama relationship ever made sense?

After the financial beating she took in this election, I am certain that she is going to put more careful thought into running again.
I am still not opposed to Hill being SOS. It could be FAR worse. I do see it being a conflict though because she and Obama differ quite dramatically on foreign policy.
http://abcnews.go.com/politics/Story?id=3409544&page=1
That article dates back to the Youtube debate in the summer 07 and shows the friction between their philosophies. I am FAR more comfortable with her than someone with Obama's foreign policy ideals.

Well, she has said that she does not want to run in 2012, but I don't believe that. She may think that things are going to go bad, so she can run and talk about how "she" is going to fix everything.
I thought that she would want to stay in the Senate too. This way she could move up and take over and really make a name for herself.
Well, we shall see in the coming months what is going to happen.

I know that she took a big financial beating, but you know she wants that job. I think if she ran again and Obama was in the race, she would do things differently. Hey, she might start fund raising now, who knows.
As for foreign policy, she did so much better than Obama. I remember one debate she gave this long answer and he was like, "yes." I and I remember thinking, WTH was that.
Not too keen on Richardson. I did read today that Kerry really is crushed. He really wanted the job. But, he lost it out to a Clinton.
Thanks for the link. She looks better than he does. One reason why I don't want her as SOS is because I don't believe either of them. You can UNITY all you want, but there is a lot of friction still between them and I am curious to see how this plays out.

Hi Kevin
Well, I did read the far left gave Obama the timeline. This should be good. They are going to give him some slack, but the deadline is July 4. That means, have the mortgage mess cleaned up, out of Iraq completely, and there was some other things.
Things will be interesting when he takes office. People are going to come collecting on the promises and he may not be able to produce anything for them.

I'm missing my updates.
Hillary will indeed run in 2012 in the hopes that the O man fails and fails miserably enough for people to want her back.
However, the O man has his henchmen too that could knock out a lowly woman sec of st. And, it could be done overseas by one of his muzzie buddies.
Remember how conveniently Granny Obama died right before the election?

Hillary may be in a better position at State to influence O's successes and failures. This comes with the added benefit of not having to vote on any of his nutty agenda.
If he fails, and I hardly see how it can be otherwise, she will be available to play party savior. It's a long shot since if things are even marginally better in '12 we will hear non-stop "are you better off than you were" slogans.
Hillary is pushing her "best buy" date and two terms would make Biden older than McCain in '16. This assumes we don't see a president for life amendment a la Chavez.

With HRC & the Clintons anything is possible. Remember Vince Foster? Some have referred to her as 'sitting next to Arthur' at the round table. Although, I wonder if it will be a round table or a table of one, with his subjects at a different table?
I can't get your email to go thru on the TH bloggers list, have you added me to your list? I have a new post re: all the cabinet to date.

You Can tell that Republicans are bending over backward to see the silver lining here. When we say she would be a good Sec. of State, we mean, as opposed to Reverend Wright or Bill Ayers. When you compare her to a whole host of Republicans she is still just a weak Democrat who cares 1st about her own power. I give her 6 months in that position, before she screws it up.

G'day Sue, the plot thickens ...
You know that both Obammy and Hillary did their due dilligence and conducted their war games before making their respective decisions. I think that Hillary's is easier to guess. I think that she thinks that Obammy will be vunerable (or he will have met with an untimely demise) and that she could challenge him for the party's nomination. I don't know if a party has ever chosen someone other than a sitting President but dissatisfaction with Obammy and the current group of Hillary supporters could possibly make her the dem nominee in 2012. I still don't understand Obammy's selection of her though.

With some of these picks, I have to say Clinton is nearing the top for normal with me. Some of these other ones, please I would like a redo or should I say undo?
I do wonder if months down the road or a year or two, if Obama is losing his appeal and really sliding in the polls, will she jump ship to say face for her run in 2012? Makes you wonder.

I have heard the rumors that Bill Clinton may be ready and willing to take Hillary's Senate Seat. Hey, maybe Chelsea can run for a congressional seat in the House and they can make it a real family affair. Okay, that would make a good Lifetime movie!
