Bogging down law enforcement

I'm sure that every law enforcement officer comes across illegal aliens everyday but how feasible is it for them to actually "round up" every one they come across? Where would they take them? What are the legal ramifications of detaining someone just because the policeman thinks they are illegal? The last thing we need is for all of our law enforcement officers to be bogged down in the round up. I'm sure they have some serving and protecting they need to do.

I am always astounded when reminded that only 700,000 officers police a swarming, rioting mass of 300 million.
