Rocklin School Board Eliminates School Choice By Not Supporting WSCA Charter

The meeting was a disgrace in so many ways, this discussion can (and probably will) go on for weeks if not months.

Mr. Trimble was out of line giving the full name of a staff member of Rocklin Academy. He should be reprimanded immediately. His point could have been made without the actual name. A professional would not do that. But, he inadvertently made reinforced the point the supporters of WSCA were attempting to make. Every child is different and will not thrive in the same environment. The child mentioned didn't thrive at RA and is happy at Rocklin Elementary. That's great! That is what choice is all about! Thankfully there is some choice at the elementary level.

In the end the Board of Trustees did the job they were paid to do - the bidding of the CTA. They have been bought and paid for, and that is a fact verifiable at the county office. Another blog states the numbers as $2000 for Daley and $6000 each for Paul and Lang, so go verify amounts. Daley should ask for a raise next election, he's working on the cheap! Maybe a few of those crocodile tears from Wendy "should I follow my head or follow my heart" Lang were her integrity washing away.

We all know that the CTA puts their objectives well ahead of the children.

Remember what happened last your at Whitney High School. A teacher choked a student because the student said something bad about his daughter. While the student should of never said that, a teacher never puts their hands on a student. Do you think this teacher was fired? Nope. The CTA brought in their attorneys and the teacher is still teaching at the school.

When I was on the school board, Ms. Maben, Mr. Lowell, and Mr. Paul cut deals with the CTA for financial settlements for 2 different teachers. I always voted against those. I would never be blackmailed by the CTA. Now look at it. Play ball with the CTA and they reward you with thousands of dollars for your campaign.

Agree with all the points you make. How can an educational program modeled after Pacific Collegiate School, the #1 high school in California, #2 in the country, be unsound? If the curriculum is profoundly lacking, what parent would their child there?

Interesting to note all the supporters of WSCA are parents and community leaders, and all the detractors were RUSD teachers.

The RUSD teachers that spoke at the meeting are afraid of any competition. They know we are right and are afraid that over 1,000 families would want to attend WSCA. I sad day for rocklin families.
