I spent more than 10 years ministering in nursing and assisted living facilities, conducting worship services, visiting etc. , after I retired from active duty in 1980. At one point I asked our associate pastor why it was that we had a "youth" pastor but no "seniors" pastor for the older folks - including the many "shut in" members we had that could not physically attend a worship service. His answer was telling, he said, we certainly should but "to be very honest, there is no glory in it" so no one wants to do it! After that I tried with little success to generate such an interest. When I moved from that church it took the pastor nearly a year to find some one to fill my lay position. Your comments are as always RIGHT ON!
