McCain's Running Mate

While I can't say that I have any insight on the lack of conservative gals out there, I did have an interesting proposition.

You mentioned McCain's list of prospective running mates, and I had recently had a thought, I wanted to see if it was as crazy as it potentially sounded.

McCain is focusing a lot on environmental issues. Quite a lot, actually. Now, unorthodox as it may be, I think it would be interesting to see him ask Al Gore to be his running mate. It would show that he is indeed serious about environmental issues, enough to employ the wisdom of a man from across party lines. And it would also potentially win over a great deal of votes that McCain isn't winning at the moment; these being some of those fickle independents, the youth vote, and also opens the potential for some votes from typically straight-ticket democrats.

Of course, with McCain's age, one can easily see how he may not be the prime candidate for a mixed-ticket presidency. After all, if the Republican president dies, the Democratic VP takes over. And that's a tad strange.

Now, I understand that this is most likely just a ridiculous flight of fancy on my part. But my question is, does this make any sense to you? Can you see any way that it could work?
