Darwinism a foundation for conservatism?

i have always wondered if many people do not confuse adaptation with evolution. in the sense that we can adapt to changes in our environment, we do evolve...there is a genetic component to our adaptation. in no way is this the same as saying we crawled out of the mud somewhere and learned to walk upright and make fire, through some evolutionary process.

I think you're absolutely right. There is no doubt that "evolution" occurs in terms of adaptation, but where's the evidence that evolution has created every specie there is from one common cell of slime mold?
