Yea, verily...

...thou hast hit the proverbial nail on the head! Quantity time quite frequently is quality time if you do it right.

Interface

If you do it right, yes. But the message I have seen for some time now is that quality trumps quantity, and I disagree wholeheartedly. Quality time is grasping at straws and does not complete the picture.

I think...

...what many fail to grasp is that, TO THE CHILD, quality time *is* the quantity of time you spend with them. One wonders what metric one would use to measure the "quality" of time spent with one's child(ren). I quite agree that so-called "quality time" is a euphemism for spending as little time as possible with the rug rats, I mean, the children, so that I can have as much time for myself as possible.

And if you want a "quick" solution to this, try homeschooling. (Yes, it was hard to type that with a straight face, having homeschooled my two daughters and knowing that it is work, but well worth it and quite rewarding with quality and quantity time spent with them. But to call it quick...?!?)

;->

I agree completely

"TO THE CHILD, quality time *is* the quantity of time you spend with them."

And I think part of the problem is that people want an excuse for the time apart. Using the 'quality' label makes them feel better. But they are mistaken.

Homeschooling. We are going to start that a little bit here. Mine are too young for school, but we are going to be doing some pre-school sorts of things starting next week.

I understand it is a LOT of work. I know people who have tried but just were not able to put all the time necessary to make it work...

To make homeschooling work...

...read as much about it by homeschoolers as you can. Find and talk with other homeschoolers. Then don't sweat the small stuff, like how clean your living room is, etc. Learn to recognize what is only urgent but unimportant versus the truly important, and do the important. And the more you do it, the "easier" it becomes.

Thanks for the advise

Sounds like some good things to follow...
