i am also a small business owner and what shocks me is that many conservatives don't really understand capitalism.

during the bank bailouts i tried to explain to them that capitalism only works if there is capital to borrow and invest.

they accused me of spending money i didn't have and really did not understand that all business people have to borrow to keep their business going.

my business is construction related and most of my customers take 90 days to pay because they have to wait for government approval on the finished work.

some weeks, i know i will be paid but haven't got the payment yet, so i have a loan officer at the bank who has handled my account for 10 years who would give me a loan for a week or two at very low rates.

when the financial crisis happened, that went away for a while and i had to dip into my cash reserves.

things are looking much better the past couple months but even when they talk about cutting taxes.

i told them i will not re-hire or expand until my cash reserve is built up again.

they just don't seem to understand the way capitalism works yet they scream obama is a socialist for bailing out the banks.

it is scary and ironic at the same time.
