Another well written think piece that I hope gets a lot of us noodling.

When you talked about the USA coming to the rescue, as it were, all over the globe when there are natural disasters, etc., it struck me that like most of us humanoids, perhaps this strength in our country is at the same time a weakness.

I could go on and on about the points you are making, but I will keep it short.

several times today rereading this post. Cogitating and rereading. The one thing that struck me each and every time was:

The founding fathers scripted a Declaration of INDEPENDENCE.

Not once did the author the Declaration of DEPENDENCE.

Let's keep it that way.

extreme conservative bloggers, I've researched Obama a great deal and I believe that Frank Marshall Davis was a real influence in Obama's life. From that point forward, Obama associated with leftist radicals almost entirely - so it's no wonder he never gets the "individual" concept. Good post, Glenn - you've got him pegged.

Hey, I've got Davis' complete FBI file, over 600 pages from around 1939 to 1956 or so. They kept him under their thumb. He was a sadist/deviant. Bad man.

it is that America is waking up to Obama’s real vision and aspirations. But it’ll still be a long row to hoe with the msm protecting him every step of the way.

I believe the tipping point...that is the accelerated no-return freefall to Obama’s goals will be marked by two major domestic events: amnesty, aka “Immigration Reform” and socialized medicine ala Universal Healthcare. The first will be the beginning of a rapid demographic shift for the democrats. The second will ensure dependency and support of higher taxes (on the “rich” of course) to guarantee the free stuff keeps coming. The law, once passed, will also grow the informal fourth branch of government (bureaucracy) to unprecedented levels. In short, he intends to buy millions of new voters with your tax dollars.

You're right. Once we're that far down the road it will be decades before the USA will be able to recover, if we do.

Healthcare and amnesty will get them where they are going. But cap & trade will get them there fat and happy, and us impoverished.

I listened to a sociologist from India speaking at the Int'l. Conference on Climate Change, a conference of skeptics. He says if cap & trade gets a good hold on the world, the western societies will de-evolve to the same living standard as India is right now. Only 2 in 10 houses have electricity, and that's from their own generators, and 15-20 in 100 have indoor toilets. NONE have gas, air, or heat. That's just what Gore and Obama want.

The Times has an explanation of why , how and when the Obama Admin. will push nationalization of health care to Congress, get it passed before Thanksgiving and have 1/7 of our economy in his grimy hands. Just as the EU is wisely turning from collectivism in its latest Parli. elections, the USA is going full bore toward socialist pacifism. It appears dreadful since the lemmings who vote now, want freebies and want you and I to pay for it. Individualism, as the Left always brays bout, is just not legislatively proper enough for the Dems nowadays. Truman and JFK and Humphrey, and Scoop Jackson are rolling in the graves.

The Sail Eared Simpleton IS getting rattled. He sees it falling apart and his answer is to FORCE more spendulus money into the economy. As inflation rises, Obama WILL sink.
