I beg to differ. I have seen more honest debate here than on any site of the left, and more than even some on the right. Admittedly, if you post strange rants about the Protocols of the Elders of Zion or about rites at Bohemian Grove, or use a stream of profanities, you may be banned, but I note your blog is still up. So who exactly is censoring you? And more importantly, how long would MY blog last on the Huffington Post? I think the underline under your name is graphic proof that your point is mistaken.

But I am stealing the blog owner's thunder, I am sure he would want to refute your argument himself.

Also, that 'on topic" part is boilerplate for any site. The point being Media Matters is enforcing it in a selective manner, while TH seems to enforce it rarely, if at all. I have seen quite lengthy digressions which were ignored completely, and form both ends of the spectrum, while it seems conservative posts on some sites are always either offensive or off topic int he eyes of moderators.

But I think we can settle this. Pick 10 random columns from DailyKos or Huff'n'Puff or the DUmmies, wherever, and 10 from TH. Count the number of liberal, conservative and neutral comments. Check the ratios for the other site vs. TH. Better yet, go back in an hour and count how many of each type were deleted.

It is an eye-opening exercise.

I got deleted on Huffingtonpost in seconds. The left seem to silence opposition faster than would a boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Bill Gates.

No I don't think you would get banned for having an honest debate. I see people hear saying some incredibly nasty stuff. Like Ranger29. I haven't seen him getting banned for saying way worse things. So I know you will do anything to defend the left wing. The only thing is it just doesn't work here.

This nation is as polarized as it has always been. The Revolution saw hordes leaving for Canada, the Civil War saw hundreds of thousands of us killed by each other, the First World War saw over a hundred thousand INTERNED by Woodrow Wilson for speaking out against the war, the list goes on. We must someday retake Academia and Journalism, and continue to confront and defeat Liberalism whenever and wherever we can. I can't even engage with Liberals anymore. I no longer have the patience to reply to their willful ignorance and use of diversionary talking points to avoid dealing with facts. They just must be defeated. And thats all I'm gonna say about that......

I have to side with andrews. TH is very forgiving when policing the boards. I’ve never seen anyone’s post deleted, much less banned for straying from the subject. Furthermore, there is no policy I could find for closing a thread. I suppose that’s left to the author’s discretion.

From my perspective, I was booted because they didn’t like my remarks. I can’t prove it, but I’d sure bet on it.

Same thing happened to me on the Daily Kooks several years ago. I went to that site naively thinking to engage in debate. I was immediately attacked from all quarters with a plethora of adjectives..racists being the most common. This I expected and individually answered the assault with as much wit and wisdom that I could muster...holding the high ground and never responding in kind. I was actually having a good time when POOF! Gone! Although I’d not been banned, ever comment I posted henceforth was summarily deleted. It was if they assigned someone to sit there and specifically delete my post.

Funny, but unfortunately its devastating to young minds. Brain-pound for brain-pound they cannot honestly debate and they know it. Censorship remains the main modus operandi.

If LR has an honest bone in his body, he’ll concede the point. No rational person could do otherwise.

I feel your pain brother. It’s difficult constantly dealing with the false accusations, lies, deflections, and spin. But the young can be persuaded with direct engagement, honesty, and facts. That is why we cannot get on these sites.

However the older liberals know exactly what they’re doing. They are as much the enemy (if not more) than Islamic extremist.

Speaking of Media Matters, Eric Boehlert, who is a senior fellow with them was on Dennis Miller this morning. When asked what he thought of the media on Obama, Eric said that the media was "TOO HARD" on Obama! From there he dug himself further and further down, saying that Olbermann was "respectful" to Bush while Glenn Beck and Hannity are hatefull towards Obama. He says that we are all paranoid about our guns, and that people on the left were nice to Bush!

This guy told me a lot about Media Matters! Dennis Miller, after the interview, said he was about to blow up on him, but held back. Callers poured in asking what planet Eric Boehlert was from! It's truly amazing people think like that. Ignorance and stupidity are being seen at high levels these days.

respect that I gave up trying to reason with the left and have determined that if I get some lib troll on my blog, I'm just going to ignore them. Life's too short to get stressed out when you can't have an honest, respectful debate 'cause the other side falls back on DNC talking points and doesn't allow real facts to deter them from their point. Though I generally don't comment on left sites anymore, I still read comments when a story from Hot Air, WND or Drudge takes me to a lefty site. The comments alone are enough to cause palpitations even without direct confrontation.

What’s the best strategy? Give em both barrels, ala GunnyG, kill them with kindness and stick to the facts, or just completely ignore them. Not one size fits all perhaps. Engage and ignore when apropos, depending on the recipient and forum.

However, regardless of tactic, only the recipient can give power to the sender’s words. If we stay centered, or aware of our own ego and emotions, we can step back from the shouting match and disarm their words with rational thought. They have influence only if we permit it.

I believe it’s important to occasionally visit these sites (via proxy servers) in hopes of finding and adding support to the random lone rational voice.

It is indeed very frustrating. I think we’ll win only if we continue to engage the misled. I’m not talking about the far left in this country who are knowingly blazing a socialist trail, but the pop culture; the “me” crowd, who only need a good dose of reality to see the truth. If we expose these socialist and their agenda for what they are, perhaps rational thought will prevail.

Thanks for the kind words. I’ve gone verbally postal more times than I care to admit. Deserved? Maybe. But it doesn’t belay the fact that I let someone’s words influence my thought and emotions. I’m trying to learn to pound this keyboard with a smile, recognizing that no one’s words have power over me unless I chose so. Staying focused on the facts and the task at hand seems to help.

I agree that ignoring the pathetic trolls that frequent TH is normally the best strategy. But I think we should all be actively seeking the out youngsters that are misled down the liberal primrose path. It’s not fun, but every time we get the truth out there on those leftwing sites, it helps in some small way.
