I SAW THIS COMING

MEDVED ANNOUNCED THAT EDWARDS AND NUNN ARE THE MAIN CONTENDERS FOR THE VP.AH! INTUITION!!

Colin

If he is right, you did call that some time ago. Of course, since Obama is following the polls so closely, things can change in an instant. Will be interesting to see what happens at the convention.

NATIONAL ENQUIRER NEMESIS

The N.E. has just printed a story about EDWARDS love child from an affair he had last year...hope it's not the end for this poseur,as he is the perfect loser for OBAMA!!...also because I've waged 1200$ on EDWARDS with INTRADE!

Colin

I recall that story running last year sometime, but it never got much mileage. I suppose if he is the VP pick it will make a comeback.

It always sounded plausible, at least as much of it as I heard, and it makes a lie of his supportive husband act, but I don't know how much the press will pick up. I suppose it depends on bloggers and talk radio. We forced them to cover Wright, but if we ignore this story then the media will surely bury it too.

Well, I have to see some more details before I say much more. I don't know enough to say whether I believe entirely or not. What I did see when it first came out sounded convincing, but it died before I could get enough details to decide for good. Hopefully this time there will at least be a few more bits of supporting evidence.

Good luck on the Edwards wager. You probably have pretty good odds, even with this story he still seems one of the front runners.

Andrews

If we wins (God help us), then what? Are we racists against the white man? Ugh!

I heard the Edwards story yesterday. It seems to be gaining some more legs on this because of Edwards sneaking around. Who knows? I think if more evidence surfaces, the story will be coming at us full force.

As for VP, I don't think Edwards is the front runner as he used to be, but of course I more than likely can be wrong. I think that he may lean more toward Richardson.

Sue

A few seem to think Nunn is the front runner, but if he is, I have to ask what they are thinking. Nunn was a pretty big loser in his presidential run, why would he be a good choice for VP? Usually you want to avoid people who blew a presidential race when picking VPs.

Then again, Edwards was a failed presidential and VP contender, so he seems a bad choice too.

Seem the Democrats need some new blood. Besides Obama.

Andrews

Weird about Nunn. He is on so many boards of "Big Business" and Obama is not really on board with that group. And of course is he is on the board of Chevron. So, right there big oil. Boo! Bad people! They keep taking our money, well, that is what Pelosi and Reid tell me.

Anyway, if he does choose Nunn they can spin it, so he can help Obama change big business or it will not be brought up at all.

I don't really know a lot about Nunn, but I really can't see him being the one. Of course I could be wrong.

As for Edwards, who knows? They can talk about his big house and all the money he made off of lawsuits. Who knows? If he did choose Edwards, I don't think that would give him the big bump in the polls. But of course I could be wrong.

Sue

As I wrote before, I don't see any VP giving him much advantage. A hard left candidate might solidify the base a bit, but a more conservative Democrat still isn't going to win over the center and it will alienate his left wing base.

I suppose his best bet is someone left wing, since it will at least keep the base form eroding, even if it alienates the center. It wasn't as if he was doing that well with independents anyway.

Andrews

Yes, I am not seeing a VP that will make him really stand out.
Now, I was reading an article and I can't find the thing that if he put Colin Powell on the ticket, that just might be the ticket.
What do you think?

Sue

I don't see Powell running with him, but even if he did, I don't see it doing him that much good. It might win over some independents, but others may see it as a bit opportunistic, as Obama has pretty strongly established himself a s left wing in a lot of minds.

Also, I don't know how much impact Powell would have. His best time to run for office is passed. He was a strong contender 4 or 5 years ago, today I think he has less influence than he did.

It would be an interesting choice, but I don't think it would be a successful one.

Andrews

I have to agree with you on Powell. He has not really been in the public eye a lot and I think that in the previous election (2004) he would have been a stronger contender.

I really don't see him choosing Hillary, even though I know there are people that are hoping that he is going to choose her.

Sue

The strange thing is, if he did pick Hillary, I am betting a lot of those who supported her still wouldn't come back. They are more upset about the way he was selected than about the loss. Even if he picked Hillary they might not be appeased.

It may have started as a complaint by Hillary supporters, but it seems to have become something bigger. The way some McCain opponents have gotten to the point where McCain could become 100% conservative and they would still find fault, there are a number of Hillary supporters who would be opposed to Obama even if he chose Hillary.

IT'S STILL EDWARDS

Unless his love child destroys him...then it's still EDWARDS...don't you see?...they're perfect for each other!!...two metrosexual, phony, preening
,poseurs!!...American Idols writ large!!

Colin

As far as I know you're the only one of us certain enough to have money riding on this, so I know you are confident in your prediction. And you make a good case for your position.

The only reason I still can't make a prediction is that Obama has been unpredictable. On important issues he is solidly far left, but on the superficial issues, and picking VP is somewhat superficial, he is erratic and unpredictable. So I just don't know.

For the sake of your wallet, I hope you're right.

Edwards

I can see where he would fit and of course Colin would get the money.

You are correct in saying that Obama is so unpredictable that who knows who he is going to choose.

Sue

Well, the other reason I can't quite predict is that I expect at the end of his little vacation he will check which way the political wind is blowing and reinvent himself one more time to prepare for the convention. So I need to see what new persona he adopts before I will even hazard a guess.

OBAMA UNPREDICTABLE? ? ! !

You've got it all wrong,Obama is anything but unpredictable!!...quite frankly,I can read Obama like a book....Charlaton and deluded poseur!
FOUR things to understand about this con man... NARCISISM...MEGALAMANIA...INSECURITY... RUTHLESS AMBITION
When Obama chooses a V.P. insecurity is a defining issue..the V.P. has GOT to be someone he feels comfortable with, regardless of what his advisers think!!Remember,Obama comes from a very troubled background....seveer identity problems!!
Edwards is perfect for his fragile EGO!!..like two lovebirds!!
It could be that Edwards' love child is terminal, after all,a D.N.A test would sink him, so maybe it's time for Obama to reluctantly throw his Prety Boy friend under the bus too!!..it's a crying shame!!

Colin

The problem is that Obama goes between excessive arrogance and a somewhat realistic view of his own abilities. When he is in arrogant mode, he likely thinks everyone is inferior and thus a good VP choice. When he is more realistic, then he is likely to pick a third-rate politician, so as not to show himself up.

I know some will doubt my description of his personality, but look at his "Blueprint for Change". Half of it is fawning quotes from Obama, presented as received wisdom. The other half is a plea that we take him seriously because of his "experience". It is the strangest combination of narcissism and pleading I have ever seen.

Well, as I said, not writing off Edwards, I agree with you that he is quite possible, but Obama has surprised me before with his choices.

IT SHOULD BE BIDON !

Joe bidon would bring that much needed stability and gravitas ,but that would be much too paternalistic for the terminaly insecure Obama!!
Obama will be his own man, without some old white guy to guide him!!..what Obama wants is the GQ. look...like two elegant male models!!...it could be Richardson..he's not white!

Colin

Biden has his own issues, but they are relatively minor compared to the other choices. And no one is free of any baggage, so I think you may be right there. That would be the strongest Obama choice.
