What Obama Doesn't Want You To Know

Actions vs. words

Good article. McCain's efforts show he will look forward and try to do what's best for the country and not the good old boys network. This smells like Enron. Sarah will be a good partner in this.

The Answer is Obvious

The answer to your question is obvious. McCain is the candidate that is truthful about his position on every issue. Not only is it truth in his words, but his actions back up everything he says, stands for and will do for this country.

While I support Sen McCain, he is not telling the whole truth. McCain's support came only after the report that Fannie/Freddie were cooking the books. He did not say boo until some 16 months after the bill was introduced and 10 months after it was left for dead in the Banking committee controlled by a 11 to 9 Republican majority.

If he wants to claim to be a reformer he should have cosponsored the bill when it was introduced on 1/2005 not after the bad news hit the press on 7/2006. This is not a golden example of being a reformer. It is more like "oh crap" I better say something if I am going to run for President.

Shame, Shame!

Scott,

I too am cynical about politician's actions and speeches. However, I do believe that John McCain's slogan 'Country First' is authentic. Two quick reasons for my belief, his actions in Hanoi and his push for the Iraq surge which caused his campaign to become almost obscure.

As to your points, you are correct about the 11 to 9 Republican Majority on the Banking Committee and the fact that the bill was created in 2005. However, as was said, the bill never got to the floor for a vote, it sat in the Banking Committee and eventually died there. Senator McCain is not now nor has ever been on the Banking Committee.

Just for everyone's information, Senator John McCain is Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services; Ranking Member and former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; and Member and former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. In 2005 Senator McCain was transitioning from the Chairman of the Commerce Committee to Chairman of the Indian Affairs Committee.

Why would Senator McCain even know about the bill since it never made it to the Senate Floor? I would prefer to believe that it was brought to his attention in 2006 after the OFHEO report and at that time he was made aware of S.190 when he co-sponsored the bill. Incidentally, his senate speech was given in May of 2006 before "the bad news hit the press on 7/2006".

I've been fortunate enough to meet John McCain and look into his eyes. He is genuine......
