Keep the Faith

Well, there need be caveats here. Americans fail, miserably, in test of civil literacy. Basic issues of our founding documents are not understood. Americans aren't stupid, but they are very poorly educated--in part a result of government schools, no doubt. Thomas Jefferson founded the University of Virginia to educate future leaders, by providing them an understanding of civics. Our colleges horribly fail in that regard. The main problem is that people now have a form of majority rule at the federal level, that was never intended. Majority rule is DANGEROUS unless the powers available to majority rule are strictly limited. There are now essentially no limitations on the federal government.

I think it is totally fair to be worried about how uneducated the American voter is, when the improper concept of majority rule allows the ignorant to forcibly block the rights of the individual

America faces are (1) liberalism and (2) ignorance. The country has been savaged for a century.

Your friend, Jim, and I share the concern. We're are at the tipping point where the majority of Americans will vote for living rather than working for a living. And the current porkulus bill is designed to tip the country over that precipice.

The widespread ignorance isn't by accident. It's part of the liberal gameplan.
