Comment on: The Ghetto Conservative

McCain is brilliant! The new battle of the bailouts, and the gamchanging proposal to buyout bad housing loans!

Nothing Left To Lose!

Hey! Good post. Many can`t agree with the big picture JMac proposed tonight for the mortgage bailout. Yet no one wants to see millions of families forced out of their homes if there is an workable alternative. Watched some "conservative" pundits after the debate and all were apopleptic about this. He lost the election! Consider the alternative. JMac will do everything to protect the United States and her people. Obama will do anything to be elected and attain power.

You can't have it both ways

You wrote: "Obama stated that 'healthcare is a right'."

Yes, he did, and you rightfully scorn that position.

Yet McCain's "mortgage buyout" essentially takes the same position on home ownership; that's it's essentially a "right" that the government has to prop up..... and it's no more a "right" than is healthcare.

If people can't afford their homes, they should lose them. That home is then a bargain for a QUALIFIED buyer.

That's how the free market works.

All McCain's plan will do is further drive down home values, penalize those who HAVE faithfully made their mortgage payments, and take away any motivation for them to continue to do so.

After all, why should they? The bum down the street just got his principal and interest rates cut in half by the Gov; I'd be an IDIOT to continue making payments on my own house, that now has a higher interest rate and principal balance than that other guy.

Politics you have to play

The way I see things is either $300 billion buyout of homes, appease the populist wave, or face $890 billion in new spending from Obama, and perpetuate the ugly cycles on out of control entitlements which will be dangerous due to a DEM controlled congress and Obama! I rather concede the housing issue then concede housing, medicare, affordable college, universal health care, peace corp mandates, expansion of worker programs and welfare, not using nuclear, the idea that we must support nations around the world with money and on and on and on-- we give and take-- its called politics and compromise-- if you dont budge we lose--- we cannot die in our ideological boots--
