Why I Am Not a Liberal—Part 2

I have traveled to Europe every year since 9/11. And, to be perfectly honest, have never run into the hatred described in other comments. I have run into the BDS and the LCS(lovedClinton Syndrome) to be sure, but never have I been mistreated or the object of hatred.
I would also say that the liberal nature of Europe will be it's downfall. I have seen the difference in populations from year to year and I do find this scary.
We have discussed poitics at great length and, as is here, one cannot get anybody to see daylight in terms of the Freedoms we have here. They are raised in a culture of government protectionism for the most part.
I have also met many german and british people who do think very conservatively...and, you guessed it. They have been here, done that and are still here. Free to be without much constraint.
The premise that we have done things on purpose to make our allies angry is suits the left montra of "America is bad, and it's our own fault. Everyone else waits for the fall."

It. AIN'T. GONNA. HAPPEN. Period.

BTW, when in Europe, did you watch their news coverage and read their newspapers?

From what I heard, the MSM there is much worse than here--solidly liberal (American-style) to hard-core Evil Leftist. Hardly any conservative reporting or commentary at all.

Just wondering if your experience lines up with that of Mark Steyn and other writers I've read dealing with European anti-Americanism.

The media coverage would make you sick. It is very slanted. Mostly BBC or Skye news. I can speak some german and dutch so, I can read the local papers to a degree. These papers are precisely why people will say they love Clinton and hate Bush. Many of the british I spend time with are very conservative, they are just afraid to make the leap to the US...though I don;t understand why. I debated with a German friend about Bush who thought she didn't like him. Turns out, when asked the right things, she was only letting the media dictate her opinion. I always tell her not to believe everything she reads!

Thanks for the confirmation of everything I've heard about European MSM.

My distant Norwegian cousin (who met us a few years ago at a family reunion at my uncle's home) wrote Dad a letter wondering why America acted as it did in the world. Clearly she was under the spell of the European MSM. Dad wrote her a nice letter back, explaining how important Americans believe freedom in the world is. I have a copy somewhere in my files. If I find it, I'll post it here.

I hadn't heard if she wrote back, and if so, what she said.
