Human Nature and the Military

What's your point?

While you are correct in what you say, that the military is basically a cross section of society, and also correct in what you say in that human nature is basically flawed (although we may disagree as to the nature of the flaw), I don't understand the poinht of your post.

Those in the military, those in combat, do not murder. By definition, war is not murder. War is killing as many of the enemy as possible and additionally, it is the enforcement of foreign policy through force.

If people in the military murder, they are punished for it just as anyone would be in civilian life. I know of two incidents I was personnally involved in with military murderers -if you want the story, let me know.

With all that being said though, I would like clarification on what exactly your point may be.

Re: What's your point?

Yeah, my post was actually in response to a different post so it doesn't surprise me that the context was lost. My main point would probably be that a soldier in the miltary can commit murder and someone calling them on it doesn't make them a traitor. Even if it turns out they were wrong. This isn't the first I've seen of this opinion, so I was just trying to comment on that opinion. That being said, it was just their opinion, but I felt the need to respond and decided to put it in a blog post as opposed to just a comment on their blog.
