Bush/Gore 2000: An Ohio Primer

good stuff

I'm fascinated that Hamilton country leans Republican. Since this encompasses the city, how can this be?

Hamilton County

Bush won Hamilton by a little over 42,000 in 2000 and by 22,000 in 2004. My guess is that there are enough suburban voters north of Cincy but still in the county to hold it Republican.

It will be interesting to see if it holds in 2008 because there appear to be a lot of new registered voters there.

You have to be careful not to look at Hamilton by itself however, because Butler which went to Bush by 40,000 in 2000 went to him in 2004 by over 53,000 in 2004.

It looks like you are seeing the suburban voter move farther north over time.
