We have SO many God given resources available to us in America. It burns me up too! Everytime I hear that BHO wants to build roads and bridges, it makes me want to pull my hair out...(and I like my hair).
We need to be energy independant! Period. We have the technology for clean coal, nuclear power, and innovative ways to drill for oil!
Arise Fellow Conservatives! We have some work to do for 2010/2012!

...enemies of our Nation and our Constitution. 'Bout time we started recognizing them as that. They don't want to solve problems. They want to take our Nation down! BrianR said something in comment on my blog: "I don't know about you, but MY friendships are informed by my principles. The chances of me having a binding friendship with someone I disagree with on principle are beyond remote."
Its about time we break off the nicey-nice relations we have w/the left. Most of us have but our elected reps are still trying to "work w/their friends on the other side of the isle". Which is one reason many of them are no longer "our elected reps". More good work here "The Dean". DD

Until someone can harness and transfer energy with equivalent BTU ratings of oil, coal and natgas, the "global warming" nuts will have to shut up and wait their turn. And make no mistake, these people are now in charge. Our whole economy is going to be turned upside down with cap-trade and other senseless BS. The conference in Poland that just wrapped up may have been the final nail. Pelosi, Reid et al will bankrupt us yet.
Nice post...welcome aboard.

I saw this commercial the other night and I was sitting there going WTH is this? Then to make matters worse I saw Gore Green Me puttering around with Obama. The only reason why he does not want a "real" job in the administration is because he does not want to fill out that background check form. He would have to list all of the money he has made from global warming/climate change stuff!
We have resources here. Why can't we go get them? Of course now that gas has gone down per gallon, we can put that on the backburner again.

Hello Dean D.
I have been an electrical engineer for over 30 years. In the early 1970's, I worked for GE in Schenectady, NY. I have worked in the electric utility field for TVA (North Alabama) and Mississippi (Plant Superintendant, Operations Manager, and General Manager of small electric utilities).
While I worked for GE (and got my masters in mechanical engineering) part of my job was to keep up with the over 200 nuclear units that were planned to be constructed and in service by 1985.
Only about 5 of these units were constructed. I was also privy to a lot of the planning that had been started to go along with the US going to a "nuclear" economy. (Jack Welch was my boss's boss.) I saw plans for electric cars that were scheduled to be in production by the early 1980's. Electricity was to cost around $0.03 per KWH by the late 1980's, or less.
For over 30 years, the Liberal/Democrat "politicians" have kept the US in a state of "dependency" on foreign oil. Their constant "listening" to the Looney Left has hurt the US more ways than I can count.
And it is getting worse.

You are entirely correct, trading on carbon caps will be the final nail in our financial coffin. It is a scam through and through and does nothing to solve any percieved pollution problems.
Thank you for the welcome!

Crazy, ain't it? The entire global warming scam is a coordinated effort by the Tranzi/libs to force their agenda. If we do everything they say we need to be doing our civilization will collapse. But that is their aim anyway. I think I finally see why they never offer any solutions, they dont WANT any solutions. Fixing the problem would take away their largest soapbox.
I agree with you, sadly, we Americans tend to have an incredibly short memory as a society. Energy independance should be among the top national security concerns but the Obamunist and his henchmen will sweep it under the rug as inconvenient.

Thank you for your reply, it's nice to meet someone here that works in our industry. I'd be preaching to the choir if I elaborated on your post here.
I'm not an engineer, I'm an ex-Lineman turned System Operator due to bad knees. But I have been in the industry since 1976 and know exactly what you are talking about.
Between the EPA and the NIMBY's (Not In My BackYard) it is amazing we have kept our existing system intact let alone build any new. Everyone wants to walk to the light switch and expect it to come on when they flip the switch. But keeping up with the demand has been woefully inadaquate mainly due to environmental opposition.

Welcome to the blogosphere!
My dad works for one of the biggest energy companies in the world and what does he do: works to reconstruct the plants so that they can produce CLEAN COAL TECHNOLOGY.
He has been traveling around the country for a few years now installing the scrubbers and getting the plants ready.
But clean coal technology is a myth...so is the holocaust and Jesus. *note sarcasm*

They're just
being critics, that's all. Think about it for a moment; most of the hyper-green environmentalists (as opposed to the stewards) seem to have a Hollywood-bred mentality to begin with. They're looking at the issues as though it were a movie, or a Broadway production. And they see themselves in the role of critic* - they aren't supposed to actually have to do anything about it; it's not their play, they're just giving 'friendly' suggestions about what should be done. Oh, it'll put the show out of business? Sorry, but we still think you need to do it.
If you ever run into one in the real world and want to mess with their minds a bit, I've got a fairly good starting point for you. Simply see if you can get them riled up about the pollution-spewing Texan plants you've heard about, then tell them what they really are. Details (somewhat limited) in my blog,
http://jesterscourt.blogtownhall.com/2008/07/30/texas_plan ts_causing_massive_amounts_of_pollution.thtml
*Spoof etymology: Critic (Kreh-tik), from Cri- Eng. Cry, the utterance or call of an animal, and Tic- Eng. Tick, bloodsucking arachnid. If you don't like this spoof etymology, feel free to make up your won.

Speaking of spoofs on environmentalism, have you ever seen the piece by Penn and Teller where they get eco-nuts to sign a petition to ban "Di-Hydrous Monoxide"? It's out on the web and worth doing a search on. FUNNY.

I remember seeing that commercial the 1st time and thinking WTF, is this a joke??
I haven't checked for accuracy, but I was told by a friend that the "Reality" site is at least partially owned by al Bore.
If there's no such thing as clean coal technology, I bet those coal fired power plants are really mad about spending millions for technology that doesn't exist. (I remember lefties laughng about Reagans' "Invisible airplanes" too. hello!, stealth fighter ring a bell?)
The libbies know that the world is getting cooler, not warmer, so the gore-bull warming scam will soon collapse, of course this means they'll already be off tilting at all new windmills. Maybe Even Real windmills, since the left doesn't want power lines from them to cities where the power is needed.
You couldn't make this stuff up if you tried.

Nope :) I got your message and replied!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Environmentalists have NO clue (not all of them) what is good.
The earth has been recycling itself for billions of years. That is why things like ice ages occur. The earth will self heal and flick us off like a flea on a dog's butt when it is tired of us consuming its resources. So Nancy Pelosi's claims that she is trying to "save the planet" mean nothing to me.
Try watching the Discovery Channel for a few hours Madam Speaker. Or History's Modern Marvels. She might actually LEARN something.

It's pretty sad to me that the Dems in Congress do not see energy independence as a national security issue. Am I surprised, No!

I just read where CA has passed more stringent enviro standards and instituted carbon cap trading. With the current budget deficit I see this as the straw that breaks the camels back. CA cannot support their current social agenda and this will only add to the burden. Businesses will follow Moses' lead and Exodus the Golden Bear state in droves. Following the enviroplan to destroy our economy. On a good side, maybe Red states will reap a boon of new employers.

@Dean:
Haven't heard of it by that particular name, nor the particular circumstances, but I've seen a bit on the 'net about attempts to ban Dihydrogen Monoxide, presumably the same substance...including one town that supposedly had that issue on the agenda until a lawyer on the city council actually did some research into the subject. And I wouldn't be at all suprised the green gnats* were buzzing about it.
@Jackpine:
The L. Cretinii are already doing so. I've seen a few arguments about how the whole thing is actually sparking global cooling, including one about how global warming will eventually stall out at least one major ocean current (can't recall which one at the moment), leading to a boiling equator and freezing temperate zones. Admittedly, this was in what was supposed to be a humor book, but it was presented as absolutely serious. And considering a few of the author's other comments*, I'm fairly sure the author is of the L.Cret species.
*("Don't worry, you're no more responsible for the end of the world than anyone else is. Well, actually, if you're American, you're probably 80-90% more responsible. Unless you're the president, but then you've got a bunch of interns to tell you you aren't responsible." - half quote, half paraphrase)
