Improving America's Education System

Hello Manny

I don't know about the other items on your list but I will give you my view on Creationism and Evolution.

The first thing that should be done by the educational system in this country is to clarify that evolution is a highly 'speculative' theory, i.e., it is not a 'highly probable' theory like Einstein's theory of relativity or Newton's theories on gravity, and that it has a lot more imagination than mathematics or scientific verifiables to back it up. They should also allow a study on the evolution of evolutionism - philosophically and scientifically - over the years.

As for teaching Evolution together with Creation, I personally would not advocate that idea (same class, comparative study, idea) simply because Creation is not a 'theory' in the classical sense and connotation of the word. It is an accepted belief based on scriptural revelation. I would prefer to see public high schools set up an elective on the subject of creationism at the same time that the theory of evolution is being viewed in its' proper scientific perspective. Another elective on critical comparison of different ancient writings and texts would be good.

This curriculum procedure would not only be fair and highly educational, it would also honor what our founding fathers exhorted and purposed for this nation - educationally, scientifically, and religiously.

Elective

I have thought of proposing an elective class like the one you mentioned. I like that idea.
