Global Warming and Climate Change

Finally . . .

Someone with some logic and science to back up the conservative take on global warming. I think the case is a lot stronger for anthropogenic causes for global warming. We know that CO2 and water vapor absorb the infrared heat radiating from the earth and that the more of it is in the atmosphere the less heat escapes. We know CO2 levels in the atmosphere have risen substantially since the industrial revolution. The rise in temperatures seem to correlate pretty well with the CO2. Sure, it's not 100% certain, but it's pretty reasonable for such a complex system. If your doctor was as sure you had cancer as scientists are sure we're having some impact on global warming you'd certainly do something to treat the cancer.

However, reasonable people can differ on what to do about it. I'm just glad to see that there are some people (even here on townhall.com that actually think about these things instead of just spew out propaganda. Thanks for renewing my faith in the blogosphere!

Maunder Minimum Redux

LarrytheLawyer,

If you are out there somewhere in the cybersphere, there are reports from solar scientists that the earth may be entering a solar minimum similar to what occurred about 300 years ago. It was brutally cold in the northern latitudes including Europe. Wouldn't it be ironic if our anthropogenic global warming actually protected us from the cold. Wouldn't it be even more ironic if the Global Warming Chicken Littles of the world convinced the governments of the world to lower are "carbon footprint" resulting in the deaths of millions due to the extreme cold.

Fortunately, we do not have the science or technology to "fix" the climate, let alone the ability to know what a "fixed" climate would be, and all of this craziness is just politics and ignorance run amok.

Thanks for the kind words.
