With All Due Respect
With all due respect C.L. Palmer, you cannot fool us at all . . . just a lib in GOP's clothing.
I really don't care what you do, since obviously you have lost your mind. I wouldn't wish an Obama presidency on anyone, even you; and if you truly are a conservative, you are spitting on the grave of Ronald Reagan. Reagan's motto: party first.

Pat: What you smokin'?
Just to clarify:
I'd never vote for Obama. As a Christian, I await the Second Coming, but that doesn't mean I'd become a part of the calamities that come first. The same thing applies here.
Reagan is my idea of a conservative role model. That said, when a party abandons its core principles, it ceases to be the same party. Reagan himself said that he never left the Democratic party; it left him. I'm wondering if the Republican tent includes any right-wingers anymore.
I, too, fear what Obama might do. But what I fear even more is the loss of a true conservative party. McCain is a centrist. To me, that's not a compliment. Palin is a conservative. If it were her versus Obama, we'd have a real battle of ideals. What we have now is a slow march to oblivion versus a plunge. My point is that we'd notice the plunge, and maybe do something to stop it. During all of my thirty-five years of life, we've been drifting toward the waterfall so slowly that most people haven't noticed. If you suggested that two men ought to be able to marry in 1984, you'd have been shouted down by an outraged nation. Now, most of us keep our disagreement to ourselves in public, lest we incite the rage of liberals. How did this happen? So slowly that we allowed it.
Do I want Obama to win? Hell no! Do I think we need a wake up call? Of course -- not you and me, no, but the torpid masses need it. And somehow this makes me a liberal? That stings worse than any string of four-letter words you might possibly unleash on me.
I'm a proud Republican, but that affiliation is only useful if it accomplishes something. It's very telling that Lieberman, a liberal, gave a speech at the convention. You can only stretch the tent sheet so far...
