If all the moderates in the Republican party join the Democrats, than it would be great as it would leave nothing but the far right loonies and bible thumpers left in the party. The Sarah Palins and the Newt Gingrichs can sit in their echo chambers and throw their nonsense back and forth and the people who would vote for them, people that wouldn't have voted rationally no matter what, will still vote for them.

The Republican party will wake up one day and look back and be able to plot with accuracy the day it went off the deep end. At least the country would be free of their foolishness for a while.
