Glenn Beck Exploits a Bigot to Promote His Own Bigotry

Mormons are Christian

Mormons teach that Jesus and Satan are brothers, but you have to take that in context - everyone is brother and sister.

I'm not a Mormon or a Christian. Mormon beliefs are a lot different than Christian ones in some areas, but the same can be said of other Christian sects as well. If they believe in Jesus and consider themselves Christian, they're Christian; just not whatever denomination you are.

Mormonism is not Christian. Period.

Spartacus, my comments are in context, and no, everyone is not a brother or sister of each other. That is a heresy. Creation not make relation.

And to say that Mormon beliefs are a lot different, and then to try and mitigate the difference by drawing some equation between Christian groups, is as intellectually dishonest as what Glenn Beck was engaging in this morning. There is absolutely no agreement on the basics of Christianity and Mormonism, period. Jesus and Satan being brothers is one classic example.

Lastly, just because someone claims to be a Christian, and says that they believe in Jesus, no more makes them a Christian than does a person who claims to be a Buddhist, and says that they believe in Gautama Buddha. What matters is what one believes about the the essentials of Christianity, starting with the person of God and what it takes to be a Christian according to what God says about the subject.

Mormons believe that God is an exalted. Mormons believe that Jesus is Satan's brother. Mormons believe that salvation is the cooperative result of their works and God's merited grace. None of those things qualify for anyone to be a Christian in the biblical sense of the word.

So, try while you may, your effort to rebut fails. It fails not only intellectually, but most importantly, biblically as well. And that is what needs to be the focal point in discerning just what the Glenn Beck's, Mitt Romney, and Mormonism as whole when this issue comes up. Failure to do so will only result in the same kind of moral/ethical relativism that you've promoted. And Lord know, we don't need any more of that.
