Candidate Conundrums and Quandaries: A Political Observation

Yeah, Cal, it works, but just barely. It took me awhile, but I finally caught on: Voters will never be able to retake control of the government monster birthed by our political machinery. The powers that be won't stand for it. After having had an insiders seat as to how compaigns are run, how officials are selected, and all the rest, I've come to the rather unsettling conclusion that the situation is hopeless. In the majority of cases the deck is hopelessly stacked against the voter and against the best man. In politics, rarely will the best man win, for in politics, the "best" man is defined as he/she the political machinery deems as best. What is best? You guessed it, those who are cut from the same cloth. I'm not talkin' "wine skins" here, Cal; I'm talkin' those from the same fold. They take care of their own. If you're not one of them, you're not in the club. But you're right about one thing. It's almost always the lesser of two evils. I wonder how much longer that will satisfy me. Guess I better get used to it, 'cause the situation's not about to change.
