Looking Ahead to November

I'll get the Attila book, its the kind of history I love to read. If you havent read 'The Devil's Horsemen'by John chambers, which chronicles the campaigns of the Mongol general Subedei, you should.
As far as McLame goes, does anybody think that after whupping the Clintons (and he will) that Obama wont squash that sputtering old duffer like a bug? Barak doesnt have to be specific in his program,'hope' and 'change' means the government taxes rich people and gives you everything for free. Everybody knows thats what the program is. The more fool them.

Good post, and I will be picking up Ms. McGlowan's book. As far as McCain, nope, can't pull the lever for him,but WILL write in should the ballot allow it. Got a call last week for money from RNC,told them basically to go p up a rope and chew the wet end.

McCain

doesn't need Huckabee. Crist is a possibility because they see Florida as THE KEY STATE in November.

Crist, W, Rick Perry, Jeb Bush....lots of Establishment Republicans are calling McCain a conservative, but since THEY are all liberals, of COURSE he looks like a conservative!

Excellent essay, George

Pretty funny, too. Well said.

Frankly, come 2012, I'm not really very interested in Romney Redux. He was my line-in-the-sand "hold my nose" this time, and the GOP can do much better. Jindahl, Palin, others.

As to VP, I really find that an irrelevant issue. We don't elect based on VEEPs, and they have little to no influence on policy.

Exhibit A: Dick Cheney. What's he managed to do to keep Bush on the straight-and-narrow?

Probably why we don't see much of him anymore; he's hiding out from embarrassment.

Georgetwin

Good post. I'll be looking for those books back in the States.

George

I feel your pain. What it comes down to is McCain has done poorly in the red states, particularly the southern states and so cannot win. Obama is a blank slate where everyone can project what they want. Deep down, I think most Americans really want to elect a black candidate just to finally get past it and he's better than what has been offered. I can't see him losing and I think it would be a mistake for him to take the VP slot if the DNC cheats him out of the nomination. Like I said on my blog, I'm totally resigned to a Democratic president and plan to enjoy this year poking the RINO animals with sticks and lighting a Cubano in November.

Give them a Dose of Reality TODAY!

Romney is better than average, but I agree we can do better. The VP is relevant only because if McAmnesty wins and dies in office, the worm could turn in a uncommon hurry.

PPhil

I'm afraid so, Romney was our last chance & McMidget is DOA, figuratively for now and literally within a couple of years.

George

Good essay. I think Huckabee is underestimated... Still a good chance for the VP, because he has done so well in the south and his likeability.

VDaddy

The GOP Elites THINK they have the whip now & Huckleberry doesn't toe The Moderate Line. We'll have to wait and see.

I'm with Pphil

GT,
Good essay, alas, I am working on what it takes to be counted and not as a suicide voter!!

Good essay GT

I will definitely add those books to my reading list.

I just voted here in Virginia and I am in the process of chronicling my adventures in franchise-ville.

It looks like "Sniffles" will get waxed today in VA but as you correctly observe the three big state primaries will tell the tale.

I have to agree with Brian on a Romney recycle. Let's face it, he wouldn't have to get economics lessons like "Amnesty" John, but he ain't no Ronald Reagan. I prefer to look to upcoming Governors, the job is the same just a larger territory.

Phil raises my spirits with his suggestion about the possibility of biding my time with a fine Hoyo de Monterrey.

The Books Sound Interesting...

I will check them out (especially "Bamboozled").

It ain't over till its over. If the Conservatives make enough noise between now and the convention, the party "elites" might get the message and not push McShame down our throats. (But I'm not holding my breath!)

However, for sure I am not voting for McShame in 2008. Otherwise, maybe Governor Jindahl in 2012?

I read "Bamboozled" last year

and thought it was GREAT. It really reinforced my belief that blacks in this country have been fooled by the Democrats for too long. ie: The KKK -- southern DEMOCRATS who wanted white supremacy; also George Wallace -- Democrat; also Senator Robert Byrd -- a former member of the KKK STILL IN THE SENATE AS A DEMOCRAT; also race-hustlers Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson...I could go on.

Back to the race: I was and STILL AM a Mitt Romney supporter who will NEVER vote for John McCain. I will vote 3rd party -- ensuring that the Democrat wins the general election -- and then Republicans in Congress will be empowered to FIGHT against the Democrat President. I will also vote for EVERY Conservative Republican that I can, down the ballot.

Excellent.

I have many posts on the RINO McLiberal. He is no conservative as you say. Calling him a moderate is being nice to him.

There are no words I can add you got McCain dead on. As I have said people will vote for the real Liberal Hillary or Obama.

If Obama is the nominee there will be real trouble with the election. People go crazy over him though he says nothing.

Here on TH there is a group that feels we HAVE to fall in line with McCain because he is the only one who can beat Hillary [just what they said about Rudy].

McCain must be defeated

at all costs. The survival of the nation depends on an opposition party. A McCain presidency will just morph the Republican party into a squishy moderate version of the Democrat party. We can choose left or far left.

If we're bound to live with essentially Democrat policies better to tag them to the Democrat party then the Repubs -- particularly with respect to amnesty. It's coming -- lets distance ourselves as far from it as possible.

McCain would cackle with glee as he drags the Party left -- all the while knowing that he fooled us once again. One by one the "conservative" establishment and media will fall in line behind McCain. Hannity was making noises today along those lines today ...

McCain must be defeated II

They all will start preaching that a republican (seemingly ANY republican) must be elected. I am not buying it. Sure, a conservative republican party will be needed to clean up the mess (part of which was created by W and McCain). Bush signed McCain/Feingold and NCLB and tried to sell us down the river with amnesty all while keeping his veto pen securely holstered. Yes, in part it was to buy political capital to keep the WOT viable but a good chunk of it was the squishy kindergentlercompassionateconservative nonsense corrupting the platform and positions of a once strong party. Just as his father never bought conservatism George W. didn't buy into it either. They both came out of the gate apologizing for being republicans.

Conservatism is honorable, effective, and just ideology and requires only that it be taught, explained and espoused. Never apologized for.

McCain does not honor conservatism and does not deserve to be honored by conservatives.

Georgetwin

Good read. I agree 100% with your assessment.

I saw this earlier today and reposted it. I have been b%&ching about the electorate behaving like children ever since Hillary's christmas message to us. Obama is going to win huge.

It's gonna be very rough going for you through November I'm afraid.

You with your 3rd or 4th choice "straight-talk express" maverick senator who routinely gives the finger to (mostly social) conservatives (actually, he DID call Pat Robertson an "agent of intolerance" for which I'm forever grateful).

And ME, on the other hand, who's first choice, Barack Hussein Obama looks like he is on the verge of sweeping yet another round of primaries & caucuses tonight (this might be 8 in a row now counting Saturday). This is a life of endless balloons & confetti & a message of hope & change I live in. It's like Christmas 24/7. (Si se puede!)

But, hey. FDR kept this country pinned to the mat for a long time and look at us now. We'll recover. And the great news is, we might get Romney. It will be well worth the wait. Especially if the general mood gets soured enough to put a large majority of conservatives in the house and senate. The coming communist hold on power for four years is a small price to pay. Even if Reps did rally to McCain, it would not matter with the children voting.

I love both Jindahl and Palin. Neither one is ready till 2016 - 2020. The more you get to know Romney, the more you will like him. Trust me on this one. Nobody is perfect but, I think he comes closer than maybe even the old man himself, the standard. One of Reagan's finest qualities that endeared him to my heart was his willingness to call a spade a spade. He was honest. So is Romney.

Raise the voting age?

It seems to me that, times, they are a changing. People used to grow up quick. I started my first real job at 14, had a paper route before that from 11 on. Nowadays, kids don't even unplug from the matrix until 18 sometimes longer, sometimes never. They want Santa Claus to keep coming. Then again, you meet some young 18 year old hottie that reads Ann Coulter and you go, maybe the end won't come in my lifetime.

From the sound of things, a Good Smoke may be the only good thing to come of Election Day :)!

The GOP Elites are LIBERAL who know what is best for us. They want us to SHUT UP & DO WHAT WE'RE TOLD!

TURN THE POWER OFF!

Jevica

A lot of The Neo-Con/Sept 11 Conservatives are aligned with McMidget. They deserve each other, McMidget lies and they swear to it.

RMMom

The look on the faces of McMidget and his VP when they figure out WE scuttled them will be priceless!

HHiker

We survived Carter, we'll survive Obama or The Carpet Cleaner.

George, and all

I just posted a new essay entitled "Bread and Circuses" at the Island. Swing on by.

Dose of reality?

I got one of those...right over at The Swamp! Part One of my 3-part 2008 Crawfish Party Platform.

Right On!

What can I add here? I agree!

Everyone thinks Obama is the black JFK, but is McCain anything of value to conservatives? I don't see it.

I believe the REAL conservatives, like many of you fellow bloggers, before I believe the claims and assertions of the MSM!

Squid

THANK YOU! I agree, none of us has a dog in the hunt or owes favors in The Senate like a certain McAmnesty McMidget does. So we are more likely to call it like we see it.

GT, Squiddy

I heard the JFK camparison just yesterday coming from the mouth of a yout'. I'm not sure JFK would be welcome in his own party today.
