I am all for competition but if you read " The Underground history Of American Education " by John Taylor Gatto You would never send you children to a public school they aren't about education our children they are about making the dumb enough to control how they think ...plus public funded education is unconstitutional.
" I have sworn upon the altar of God ,eternal hostility againstevery form of tyranny over the mind of man ." Thomas Jefferson

Notice we agree on some of your points as I refer to the government schools as "indoctrination centers".
I disagree about the constitutionality of public funds for schools only in that there is no basis for federally funding them. In my state and I would bet yours too there is a constitutional charge for the state government to fund education. The weak basis for federal funding of education when the Nixon administration created the Dept. of Ed. was the ability for the federal government to regulate interstate commerce. And they reasoned that if one area had poorer schools it would lead to economic disadvantages. Therefore they reckoned that the Fed. must step in and level the playing field. I strongly disagree with federal funding of education outside the military. IE Anapolis, W. Point, Colorado Springs, and ROTC.
