Chapter Four: Ridicule for Regulations

I concur!!

One of the most ridiculous things with regulating anything is that we, as individuals are stripped of using the brains God gave us to take responsibility for the choices we make. It should never be the Govrnments job to police businesses. As you stated, it is no better than if we were left to make the choices.
My example would be the Fisher-Price Toy Company's Little People. Age recommendation was 3 years for the toys because of a potential choking hazard. Of course, people let younger children play with them and hence there were a handful of choking incidents and death. FP took the toys off the market and redesigned them. They policed themselves.

Heads Up

Chapter Five was nearly completed when I got news that (surprise, surprise) for the EIGHTH time, the company that I work for is being acquired by another (this time the direct result of government idiocy) and I'm on the job market again.

I haven't disappeared but I have been somewhat distracted. I should have the next chapter up shortly and I'll keep ya posted.

Wish me luck.

Thanks

Fletch

Damn,Fletch

Sorry to hear that...Really sorry.
My Sugar Daddy was out of a job for 16 months and has been working for a regional firm here in Chicago. It seems the men he works with are quite cut throat. It is isn't what have you done for me, but "what have you done for me, lately?" There is a large Jewish constituent and he is finding that they are not very ethical. So, aside from moving to Chicago and not selling our house in NC, he may actually consider leaving this firm, even in these hard times.
He is extremely ethical and hates to be lied to. He tells people that if you are always honest, you'll get what you deserve. Lie to him, or try and throw him under the bus for someone else's mistakes and you are gonna be set on fire!!

PS

All the luck I can muster sent your way!

May the schwartz be with you!

Colonel Sandurz: Prepare ship for light speed.

Dark Helmet: No, no, no, light speed is too slow.

Colonel Sandurz: Light speed, too slow?

Dark Helmet: Yes, we're gonna have to go right to ludicrous speed!

[upon going into "ludicrous speed"]
Dark Helmet: My brains are going into my feet!

Lonestar: It's Spaceball 1.
Barf: They've gone to plaid!

Have we gone plaid Fletch?

Hey, Fletch,

saw your excellent post on the Elder column today. How's the job search going?

Thanks, Cynewulf

Tryin' to work my way back in.

It took a while but I've got as many lines in the water as possible and I've gotten a few nibbles but no big bites yet.

One of the things I've done is set up a profile on Linkedin.com to help network and I created a Townhall Writers' Group so we can stay connected and give each other the occassional heads up.

I've still got a couple of months before the merger concludes so we'll see aht ahppens.

JOB MARKET??

Have you considered writing for Reason Magazine or other conservative/libertarian mags?

I don't know what they pay, but I'll bet it's more than what Townhall gives you for your blogs and column postings!

It can't *possibly* be more work than what you've already put in here!

..."While banking in America shows

one regulatory failure after another..."

Yeah. Pass a law. If it doesn't work pass another law saying the first law must work. When that doesn't work pass another law....

Hey, Fletch,

how's everything going? I hope all is well with you and your family.
