...I'll try to get a copy. I also like listening to Walter Williams when he covers for Limbaugh. Something about economists. DD

Thanks for the link, it is now bookmarked and I will be studying it as time allows.
I think a lot of economics boils down to good old fashion common sense (which is in short supply as of late and impossible to find in a liberals mind).

Economics 101
Good blog! Thanks for this very worthwhile link for our very troubled times. Economics are very confusing but the fundamentals are basic. Don`t spend more than you take in and save whatever you can .... Hope you and yours had a very happy, peaceful Christmas and New Year, Stefano!

Thanks for stopping by
Darvin: The entire text is available on line for free at the first link listed in the blog piece.
Dean: Common sense has disappeared in Washington D.C. and most state capitals. The politics of reelection are the driving force of all policy and to Hades with the consequences.
Dawn: The cool thing about this book is that even I can understand it. The holidays were great.

When I went to college right out of college, I was an accounting major, then every job I ever had, I ended up in accounting. I read that book in college.
Funny, but when I went back to college I went into the medical field, my undergrad is in Communications & English w/a minor in History. I've studied a wide variety, but I remember him. Thanks.

Just read the first chapter,
The Broken Window. Great down to earth, common sense writing. I've bookmarked it and will read it at least a chapter at a time. Thanks, Steph, for the great reference. I usually steer clear of books on economics because, as a rule, they are boring. This one, I think, will be an interesting read that won't boggle my mind or put me to sleep.

Good suggestions
Von Mises, The Road To Serfdom, and anything by Milton Friedman will also help readers understand free enterprise. The problem of course, is that universities do not teach the above conservative economists. Those kids have been brainwashed by Keynes, the Beards, Lester Thurlow etc. This is why the uniformed voter can believe that failed socialism will somehow work under the faux Messiah. Ignorance in the enth degree.

All you have said is true. Hazlitt is a good and non-threatening place to start. For those who don't want to study more beyond this book, they will at least have a foundation of sorts for debating the free market side of the economic discussion.

for the link. Those who do not learn from history, eh? While I blame a lot on Bush and the republicans from 2002-06 for the weak dollar, the new administration and his ilk look like they think the dollar is capable of reaching even lower lows. I'm going to exchange my dollars for pesos. Come on, hope on this bandwagon before it's too late.
