The infancy of our country, a great speech indeed.
I doubt our school system gets this in depth with our early American history. These were fantastic an exiting times, and it all happened with God on our side.
Very well done!!

Thanks for posting this up. It's great to hear of the patriots who stood up for what they believed in. History seems to repeat itself! Again a great post.

IMO, Eric hit the nail on the head. History does indeed repeat itself. It's been quite some time since I read the full text of this speech. His complaints, fears and dreams echo my own.
I hope you let Bobbie know about this post. It is very important that people read these words and understand the context in which they occured.
Outstanding post, Jennifer!

Hadn't read his speech in quite a while.
Great speech by a great man who did it without a teleprompter !!!
Isn't it a crying shame that, most likely, public school students today wouldn't be able to tell you about Patrick Henry if their life depended on it? They are missing so much and don't even know it.
Printing out his speech for further reference. Thanks for the reminder, Jennefer. Good post.

Hey Jason
Early American history is my favorite, we have been teaching our sons all about the Founding Father's...I know you'll do the same with yours, they're off to a good start with you and your wifes values.
God Bless, the future youngsters!

Hi Bobbie
When one is genuine, there is no need for a teleprompter. great point Bobbie.
History is so valuable, too bad the youth of today are missing out on it. Although many homeschoolers, like us, still teach this.
Glad you were able to print it for further reference.
God Bless you!

in the top 5 for sure!
Would love to see and hear a modern day Patrick Henry give such a speech that held such power and conviction...as to cause action.
Something needs to happen, or we'll lose this beloved Republic.
Thanks for visiting my blog and God Bless.

Yes Joyanna...
Would LOVE to hear speeches like that...now.
these days...many fear the gov't instead of the other way around.
maybe that will change in the near future...ya never know when a leader in the same spirit as Patrick Henry will arise and rally the 'troops' in revolt.
God bess you my fellow patriot.

Great post, and at a time like this, what with the Clown-in-Chief's hostile takeover of GM,we could really use these great men who founded this nation. What must they be thinking? How could you let this happen? comes to my mind.

Clown in Chief...
with all his giggling of late, that title suits him.
Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson, Washington, Adams. etc... laid a solid foundation of wise principles for us to live by, now we have these radical liberals literally chipping away at it.
still waitin' for someone of Patrick Henry's caliber to rise and call us to take back America.
Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.
As a homeschooler I love references to our Founding Fathers courage.
As a History buff... I thank you
Keep the courage,
as Samuel Adams once said;
"It does not take a majority to prevail...
but rather an irrate, tireless, minority, keen on setting brushfires of Freedom in the minds of men"
Regards,
Edna Eagle
