Comment on: Where Are My Keys?

No media bias?

A positive spin

Aside from conservative bloggers, my google search revealed one source for the story, an entertainment weekly in Silicon Valley called MetroActive. It the rest of the media hasn't picked it up yet, perhaps they simply want to independently verify it first. Especially after haveing been burned by Malkin's "non-existant Iraqi policeman" story of a few months back.

This practice cuts both ways. Even Olberman reported the day after the elections in 2004 that there was no evidence of voter fraud in Ohio. And as juicy a story as it is, you don't see 60 MINUTES reporting that Bush engineered the 9/11 attacks.

The link in my post..

is to the MetroActive story.

I'm all for the Chronicle waiting to run an in-depth story on why Ms. Feinstein resigned her chairmanship.

Shouldn't they at least acknowledge the fact that she resigned tho? Not like there is a whole lot of deep investigative journalism needed there:

1. Call her office.
2. Ask the question: Is it true Ms. Feinstein resigned her chairmanship?
3. Print the response.

Then you can do sime digging to find out why.

By the way, Piker, just because a reporter (even someone for the "lowly" MetroActive) finds a story that casts a bad light on Feinstein, doesn't mean it's false.

Did you read the article I linked to, and if so, what do you think of it?

I didn't read the whole article

You make a good point about the resignation. There doesn't appear to be anything in the Chronicle about Feinstein quitting; and this rightfully would be news to any San Franciscan. I have to agree with you that this is probably deliberate on the part of the Chron; at least their tech coverage is usually pretty good!

Re MetroActive: Our firewall limits "entertainment" sites to 10 minute increments. But just as the story's orgin there doesn't make it false, it doesn't make it true either, hence the need to verify before reprinting.

Thanks for acknowledging that, Piker..

It's not just news in SF, it's bigger than that, due to her stature..

It will be interesting to see how it is handled over the weekend..

As to the veracity of the info, it's looks pretty good. It's not a "he said, she said", with anonymous sources-it's pretty detailed..
