On The Torture Debate: Case Closed

Agreed! Krauthammer got it right for me

The "We should never ever torture" stance is a non starter for me. Whether water boarding is torture or not is a whole topic on it's own. I don't believe it is, but back on topic.

There has to be degrees of aggressive interrogation. I heard Dennis Prager state the following; 1.) Torture should never be used as a punishment. [agreed] 2.) Torture should never be used to extract a confession. [agreed] 3.) Torture should only be used as a last resort. [agreed] If we couple these three points with what Charles K wrote, it's does it for me.

Dogmatism Helps In Church

Dogmatism helps in things ecclesiastical and doctrinal, but not always in the arena of national security. I'm afraid I'm a pragmatist on this issue, not an absolutist. I'm with Catholic leading-intellectual, George Weigel, a freind of Charles Krauthammer. The latter's way of limiting "torture" to a very rare thing and a last resort shows a very Christian respect for persons, all persons. Thank you for the comment.
