Hey, I saw your blog link

on the Lhota column, and like what you've written.

I linked you to my Blog Roll, too.

BTW, you might be interested in this email I sent to the LA County sheriff, prosecutor, ombudsman, court, supervisors, and local newspapers (one prinmted it as a letter to the editor):

Subject: Release of Paris Hilton
Date: Thursday, June 07, 2007 8:46 AM

Sheriff Lee Baca,

I just heard the news that after only three days actually in jail (to real people, an hour of each day on either side of her actual presence in the facility doesn't count as a "day") Paris Hilton is being released to home monitoring due to "medical conditions".

Well, the LA Sheriff Office has long had a reputation as being biased toward the rich and elite of Los Angeles, and I see things certainly haven't changed under your administration. The special treatment goes on.

Yes, it's sure great to be rich in LA; you can get a CCW not availiable to Joe Average, and you don't have to serve the jail terms Joe Average does.

Was the jail ward at the Medical Center too full? The noise too loud there for Hilton's delicate sensibilities? Not enough makeup mirrors?

Now she has to go through the torment of home monitoring, the poor baby. Luxurious digs Joe Average would consider a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, hot and cold running servants, a house full of sycophantic hangers-on to cater to her every whim. How torturous!

Baca, you make a mockery of the idea of law enforcement, and have proven yourself to be nothing more than one more political hack in an unfortunately long line.

Further, I find it interesting that you can overrule the decision and judgement of the judge presiding over the case by administrative fiat. You'll notice I've info-copied all the appropriate agencies here; hopefully, someone will wake up and do something about this. Though I'm certainly not sanguine. This is exactly the reason LA has the reputation it does as such a corrupt city and county.

Well, the only saving grace in this situation is that you "serve" in an elective position. Next time you're running, not only will I remember this, but I'll make sure everyone I know does, too.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I'd be happy to give you an earful live.
