I did check it out and added an update to the post based on the new information. Seems that someone deleted e-mails from Johnson's computer to hide the evidence of his misuse of funds.

Listening to Beck this afternoon
He had Mr. Walpin on. The ethically-challenged bo WH has now said that Mr. Walpin was senile and needed to be let go immediately.
Let's see if I get the rules for radicals strategy correct.
Identify the target
Freeze it
Destroy it
Looks like the biggest machine east of chitcago is steamrolling a very patriotic elderly man who was doing his job of watching out for the ethical use of our tax dollars.
Gosh, aren't we all so proud of this admin?*

MD/MG, I saw Walpin on Beck's show
yesterday - don't know if today was a rerun or a continuation? What I saw wasn't a senile old man who couldn't compose himself - he seemed cogent and coherent to me. It's obvious that when they couldn't find anything substantative, they attack him as being old and senile. And you're right, Saul Alinsky strikes again.

Thanks for putting together all this info. I have been hearing bits and pieces for a few days, though, of course, none from the state-run media.
This story is so much bigger than the firing of a few U.S. attorneys, who serve at the pleasure of the President, and so much bigger than "Travelgate." So, of course, it must be suppressed.
By the way, Rush Limbaugh says the Academy does good work, and that he has supported it in the past, and I'm more than willing to take him at his word, so let's not condemn the charity for the actions of one of its leaders.

Mr. Walpin isn't any older than Arlan Spectacle, Terrible Teddy, Jacka$$ Murtha, etc. His only sin is that he was doing an honest competent job. That'll get ya into big trouble with this slimy administration.

My heart broke for this man when Beck asked him what he wanted and he said he just wanted to live in peace.
A man who is honestly doing his job and is given this hatchet job for thanks.
And the kool-aid swilling libs say we should give bo the benefit of the doubt and not question? Bunch of nidiots.
He gets the respect he earns. NONE!!!!!!!!

Great report and links to augment your post! I saw this IG on Beck yesterday and I was reminded of something a lawyer once said:
When in court, 'if the law is on your side - argue the law. If the facts are on your side - argue the facts. If neither the law or facts are on your side - attack the victim.'
Given the attack on him personally via the age/senility route I can only conclude that this administration has neither the law or facts on their side.

Thanks for all the research on this matter. I had not heard any details about why Walpin was being fired. Finally, something that makes sense. I saw Walpin on Beck and he offered very little as to why he felt he was being fired.

Yeah arik, it makes D'ohbama look bad
so it will be squashed by the state-run media. If Rush says the Academy is good, I believe him but it never is the institution, it's always the people running the institution. Kinda like guns don't kill without people pulling triggers - institutions don't skim money or use it for personal purposes - people do.

Right Bobbie - he is doing EXACTLY
what he is supposed to be doing - pointing out waste and corruption. So what happens, a president who IS NOT DOING what he should be doing takes offense and fires him.
I think that D'ohbama is beginning to push his luck. I think that he thinks himself bulletproof - but his approval is falling and the approval of his policies are falling even further. With any luck, he'll be approaching George Bush territory by the 2010 elections.

Isn't it astonishing the egotistical arrogance of D'ohbama? He apparently believes that he can do ANYTHING and will get away with it.

to be Mayor of Chicago - he would have fit right in - he just decided that he wanted more and by golly, he got it.
He doesn't seem to take criticism well - after all who in their right mind would criticize a Messiah? I'll be interested to see how he holds up when he loses his congressional rubberstamp in 2010. How will he "govern" with Republicans controlling at least one of the house or Senate.

That is such an appropriatee quote. It is obvious that they can't attack the facts of the matter (or they would have done so) so they attack Mr. Walpin. Even though he will probably lose his job, I think that this fiasco has back-fired on D'ohbama - big time.

Patrick, I've seen him twice now on Beck
and I think that he just doesn't want to make a definitive statement - he knows why he's being fired - Kevin Johnson is a friend of D'ohbama, he is a black Mayor, he's a popular ex-NBA star and he has raised money for D'ohbama.
And this little old white geezer had the gall to point out wrongdoing on the part of a D'ohbama team member - he had to be taught a lesson.

Great post. Great research and footnoting as well. Walpin is a true patriot who was asked to come back by President Bush to serve his country. There is no evidence that Walpin is or was a partisan. And until a few phone calls were made, even Clare McCaskle wanted some questions answered. But she was quickly shut down by the Chicago machine. At best this is ageism. At worst this is a sick, twisted man (Obama) who is about as transparent as concrete when it comes to protecting his political buddies. I hope there's an investigation.

Informative piece, Garnet92, and
Mr. Walpin surely deserves the validation provided. Truth is pesky.
Truth means nada to liberal fascists. The LF playbook on remaking a nation and society says that truth is irrelevant and often gets in the way of progress. What matters is apparent or perceived truth, hence all the demagoguery.
The failure of the Obama Administration here and vis-a-vis University of Chicago Hospital (See Malkin's TH piece today.) is that they have mismanaged the creations of perceived truth. Their achilles heel? The new media, yourself included, Garnet92.

Great blog and thread, Garnet! Mr. Walpin has real spunk and determination to fight this. Byron York wrote a column today (Friday), laying out a strategy for the GOP to force the admin to respond. It is despicable the WH is trying to paint Mr. Walpin as incoherent and disoriented for just doing his job. Nothing prezboy and crew do should surprise any of us anymore ....

Truth means nothing to the administration or the DNC - it means what they want it to mean - which generally means that their "truth" is untrue. I have maintained for years that we should be developing a 100% accurate truth dectector and making them available to the public. Just imagine how different this world would be if everyone had to tell the truth - true, there would be some downsides and some modification to our life activities would be necessary but on the whole, after the initial uproar, the world would be a better place - at least in my opinion.

It is disgusting the way that they
tried to get Walpin to resign - that would have insulated D'ohbama from the current uproar. Good for him, I'm glad that he has the cajones to stand up to that tyrant. At least, assuming that the termination stands, Mr. Walpin will have the comfort of knowing that he caused some grief for The Messiah.
I hope that this story has "legs" and goes on for several more weeks - all the while showing D'ohbama for the worthless bureaucrat that he is.

Eric he does definitely think that

Right Kevin, but there are signs
D'ohbama's numbers are dropping - slowly, but dropping nonetheless. Folks are beginning to see through his BS, what with the economy not perking up as he promised, and unemployment rising higher than he promised. His reluctance to take a stand on the Iran protestors or North Korea. We're seeing EXACTLY what his history predicted - his philosophy is "first, do no harm to Obama, then do no harm to liberals, then do no harm to democrats, than - and only then, can he decide among the remaining alternatives.
