Interesting Global Warming Facts and Que

I've been asking for years...
If glaciers covered most all of the Central US 10,000 years ago, and those glaciers have been steadily melting for 10,000 years? Who's can of deodorante released all the CFCs that started this?

God's?

Global Warming

Chestertonrules:
The question is not "where did Martian CO2 come from" but "where did Earth's CO2 go?" Billions of years ago, Earth's CO2 levels were much higher than today's (it was also much hotter). When photosynthetic organisms evolved (if you're a creationist replace this with "were created" and it doesn't change my point) they started to breathe in CO2 and breathe out oxygen, which until then was very rare as a gas.

Mars isn't warming because the CO2 levels are stable. It is an increase in CO2 that causes global warming. If Earth's CO2 levels stopped right at where they are, there would still be global warming for a while because it takes a while for a CO2 increase to have an effect, but temperatures would eventually stop rising.

Jim:
Just because global warming happened naturally in the past doesn't mean that it is happening naturally now. Also, CFCs cause ozone holes, not global warming, and would cause global cooling if it weren't for our CO2 emissions because ozone is a greenhouse gas.

Where's the logic?

Michael,

Please explain why you think extremely high CO2 levels are irrelevant to atmospheric warming while increases of miniscule amounts of CO2 are crucial.

badcandie:

As I said in my comment, if CO2 levels are high but DO NOT CHANGE, then temperatures will not change, they will just stay much higher than they would be without the CO2 (the CO2 on Mars actually doesn't affect its temperature much because there is so little atmosphere. 95% of an atmosphere 100x as thin as ours is not very much). No matter how low CO2 levels are on Earth, if the amount goes up X times, then the effect on temperatures by CO2 will go up X times, regardless of how little CO2 there is.

You didn't Explain, Michael

Why will our temperatures change with a miniscule change in percent CO2 in our atmosphere?

If CO2 is irrelevant to the temperature on Mars, then it is irrelevant here. The proposed mechanism for warming would be identical.

Isn't it much more likely that the CO2 problem is fabricated by luddites and leftists?
