Drinking the GOP Kool-aid
LOL! We're all supposed to line up behind McCain just because he's slightly better than Obama, and if we don't we're "traitors". To me, traitors are those who don't fight for what's right. We're losing our liberty and it's time to take a stand. We didn't leave the GOP....the GOP left us.
And, LOL at implying that the GOP will save us from pork barrel spending. At least you mentioned it only regarding McCain. The irony here is that the GOP wouldn't be in dire straights had they not spent all that money. And, on that topic, that was a huge tax increase. We just haven't been sent the bill yet.
So, I'd rather lose this year if it helps restore the GOP for the future. That's better for the nation long-term than having two Democrat parties, one a light version of the other.

Engineer, thanks for reading
And for commenting....BUT to say -
"...the GOP left us"??
Booo-Hoo. Cry me a river. Cuz I'm in the same boat but at least I'm rowing as fast as I can because the falls are approaching rapidly.
"...implying the GOP will save us from pork barrel spending"
What I actually said was I would prefer even just ONE veto of a pork-filled bill from McCain than ZERO such vetoes from Bro-bama.
So please don't try insinuating my thoughts - if I didn't write it, it's not what I meant.
BUT YOU "would rather lose this year IF it helps restore the GOP for the future???"
Party over Country? THAT IS TRAITOROUS.
Especially when you can't be sure that in the future you will be able to RESTORE ANYTHING, the economy, SCOTUS, the Bill of Rights & least of all your precious Party.
"Traitors are those who don't fight for what's right. We're losing OUR liberty & it's time to take a stand"
Then go ahead and vote to GIVE your country to Obama. IF that is what you call "taking a stand"! You just keep worrying about the GOP doing wrong by you...forget about the country & all those who have sacrificed so's you can be a fool...it's your right, for the time being at least.
Sorry to say it, but all I heard from your sob story are the words of a quitter...so jump on overboard and swim to safety, see if the Dems throw you a life-line. But leave the oar, someone else will take your place & help right the ship.

Good men doing nothing
Good men need to organize behind a strong third-party candidate and let the fascists split their votes between Hillery Obama and McCain Feingold. The third party candidate would win, but where is he?www.poorgrandchildren.com

Normally I'm with you, but not on this one.
I think a vote and win for McCain will only continue the Republican's party slide leftward. If McCain wins after telling conservatives to go to h@ll, then what is to stop their populist policies? An Obama win, on the other hand, could be enough to cause many Democrats to give up their party, as the socialist gloves come off. It could also bring a rally of conservatives in come 2010. Whether or not this will be too late, we shall see...
