A word to the wise

HaHaHa!

I love sight gags!

Warren Buffett says the economy has fallen of a cliff sort of like that pedestrian. Read about it at my place. New post.

Moral of the story

I'm not sure there is a moral to the story ... because we all do it.

People vote for a charismatic figure who promises the world, and don't realise that there's no magic pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

The only way to deliver social improvements (regardless of someone's politics) is for people to roll their sleeves up and make it happen.

And that includes EVERYONE.

It includes the chavs at school who can't be "bovvered" learning, and the chavs who smash up bus shelters get drunk and end up in police vans after a night out.

Greg

Great speech the other day by Hannan! I got a chance to take a cheap shot at Gordon Brown in my new post. Stop by.

Greg

So, it's now OK to give the Queen a big bear hug?

I hope she liked the iPod pre-loaded with Obama speeches, I know I would be thrilled. Do you think Obama will get home without getting you guys to declare war on us?

It's amateur hour in DC.

On another note:

I love these anarchist capitalist groups. What is their proposed system of economics?

Capitalism requires the rule of law to operate. But they don't believe in the rule of law ... or private capital.

So then you have socialism. But that requires a government to command the economy, and they don't believe in government ... any government.

So you then have anarco-syndicalists:

Presumably they want to run their own affairs in little collectives.

But what if one collective excels in agriculture, and another collective excels in industrial goods?

Are they going to trade their wares? Or are they going to condemn everyone to provincial mediocrity?

It's like the Lennon song.

I can imagine a place with no countries, no religion and a brotherhood of man. It was the Soviet Union and look how that turned out.

And no, they weren't ever able to implement pure communism ... they were still stuck with the dictatorship of the proletariat ...

Greg

Sorry to be so long responding.

The thought of organized anarchy has always struck me as oxymoronic since anarchy is every man for himself or rather every man is a law unto himself.

Anarco-syndicalist still have leaders which to me is counter to anarchy.

It's a nonsensical philosophy wholly unworkable in a cheek by jowl world where consensus is mercurial.

Personally, I think they've read too much Sci-Fi!

I have been quite busy these days, hence the lack of a new blog posting.

But a simple topic like "the anarchic leftist" might be a good topic.
