WE CAN FEED THE BARBARIANS FOR A WHILE

Your question in the last paragraph is more or less one I've asked my U.S. lawmakers: what happens when nobody works? Who will feed and clothe and shelter and provide healthcare for illegal aliens? In other words, who will provide cradle-to-grave care for them and for the throngs who have never heard the words "work ethic"? Or reading? Or writing? Or spelling? Or grammar?

Who will provide housing, food, clothing, medical care (albeit not the best of any of those) for the one-quarter of the population of our prisons that just happens to be illegal aliens?

Somewhere I believe I read (on an FDA site) that we obtain 80% of our food from China. I've attempted to recapture this quote but have been unsuccessful thus far. However, taking it as a given, as an understatement, I was aghast.

That, on top of the surprising knowledge that we are providing farm subsidies to the most unlikely of people: namely, some U.S. Senators on the Agriculture Committee. Look out for Number 1 first. That's what our U.S. lawmakers learn first. That and how to get elected and then re-elected.

Learn barbarism. It may be the only way to survive. And resist any more restrictions on the Second Amendment.

This may not be very responsive to your very thought-provoking and comprehensive essay; however, it's what popped into my mind first.

It's the reality of things such as you address that makes it all very scary. Speculation can be fun, but the realities Americans are facing isn't any fun.
