monica, let me tell you, for quite a while after that bill/monica lewinsky thing, i was unable to tell people my name was monica without evoking some kind of perverse, quasi-comedic response from those who draw upon our politicos' foibles for entertainment value (not directed at sue! this is just in everyday life)...
it really does tell you something about the amount of power/influence both the politicos and
the media/entertainment industry have over our lives. you'd think that-- knowing this-- we'd have perfect role models in these positions, responsible people... instead, we've got bill, john edwards, the "lord of the flies" handbook, which HAD to have found its origin in the marx-engels bible... sigh. bill and john edwards are one thing, but actually having a wacked-out platform is another.

You do have a point about the media/politics. I used to get the same thing when Susan Smith was arrested for murdering her children. People would say off the wall comments to me.
You are actually the second person that I know named Monica.
Look at this great group of people that we have. Not only Bill, Edwards (put this guy in a rocket and send him into outer space - plant him on Mars), Elliot Spitzer, the new Gov of New York, Vitters, etc...What is with these people? Can any of these people keep it in their pants?
And the mayor of Detroit...would someone please tell this guy that he is going down and move on.
Do you notice how when they caught up in a scandal, they never want to leave They want to continue on and on.

you know, you can see an odd one getting in there who does something he shouldn't. but there are SO many of them now. and the entire dem platform is so wacko that it just seems like they accept this as all being part of our grand creation. this is the reason i've got this big, nasty issue w/the dems b/c things like this thing w/edwards is so eerily indicative of where the culture is going if there's no true leadership in the nation. the dem platform seems to be a mandatory embrace of tragedy and disgrace.

there was an article on RCP based on this exact premise. the convention makes obama look incredibly weak, and the writer was in no way merciful. it basically called him a wimp. i still think hillbill may have the veep tap, which will perhaps negate some of that (while opening up much bigger problems for the barackster, i'd say)... if she already has the tap, i'd say that's why he was off his game at saddleback. i mean, let's face it, a hill or gore is this guy's only way to really run the best race at this point, and may be his only way into the white house. but could you imagine the white house with a president obama and a veep hill? she'll have him dressed in pantsuits by the time she's through.

Since the Clinton's have highjacked the convention, I wonder if the music in the background will be, cue Fleetwood Mac - Don't Stop...thinking about tomorrow. Oh course it should be changed to...cue Beatles...Yesterday...Of course it will be sung by the Pantsuitettes.
Obama caved to the Clinton's. Not too sure what happened or if there is some black mail going on. But I saw Dick Morris right after this was announced and he was just laughing and saying how weak Obama looks.
As for Gore, I wonder if there will be a rumble between the Clinton's and the Gore's. I hear Tipper plays a mean game of censorship.

from article, march 10:
In an interview with Newsweek, Hillary Clinton raised the specter of pledged delegates, nominated by voters, switching their votes at the Democratic Convention...
(hillary's words) It doesn't look bleak at all. I have a very close race with Senator Obama. There are elected delegates, caucus delegates and superdelegates, all for different reasons, and they're all equal in their ability to cast their vote for whomever they choose. Even elected and caucus delegates are not required to stay with whomever they are pledged to. This is a very carefully constructed process that goes back years, and we're going to follow the process.
(writer of article in hp) It was only a few weeks ago that the Clinton camp was accused of seeking the vote of pledged delegates. A Politico article in mid February suggested the camp was thinking about the strategy down as the convention drew closer

(from article) After the 1980 battle between Jimmy Carter and Ted Kennedy, her chief strategist Harold Ickes noted, the party changed a rule that required pledged delegates to stick with their candidates no matter what. The current rule, adopted in 1982, states that pledged delegates "shall in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them." A "good conscience" reason for a delegate to switch, Ickes told NEWSWEEK, would be if one candidate—such as, say, Clinton—was deemed more "electable." If delegates believe she has a better chance in November than Obama, Ickes said, "you bet" that would be a reason to change their vote. (He added, however, that the campaign is "focused" on winning over uncommitted superdelegates "at this point.")

that's really an interesting one. so he feels the supers wielded too much power. well, a lot of people were on that bandwagon, i think. is he perhaps doing this with the idea that they could tip his own nomination next week in the back of his mind? b/c they could, if they wanted to. hmm. would they dare at this point?
if he comes up with a kaine, or even a bayh, would some dare not?
just based purely on the fact that it's possible, it can't be ruled out, i think.

kevin, you're a sweetie, but let's face it, this stuff lends itself towards laughing.
in american thinker, they say the late-night comedians are laying off obama. i can't see why because it's getting simultaneously more funny and tragic by the second.
what the heck are these people doing? i have to admit, though, the whole potential hillscuttle has got my attention, and then, there's the new obama hysteria movement, his sinking in the polls and such. the media is spriralling it, discussion of him needing the game-changer and such. if he picks a kaine, or even a bayh, i think he may be finished, seriously. you know, there was the funniest illustration from american thinker on there today, called HYPE. let me see if i can find it. shoot, they took it off. it was like HOPE, but it was HYPE... pretty soon, if he's not careful on this veep thing, it'll say DOPE.

Biden - Too Angry
I think Biden would be a bad choice. He is a hot head and has said over and over that he has never had a boss and could not work for anyone.
Clinton could be the wild card, but to me that is over. If Obama had put her on the ticket after the primary he more than likely would have been up in the polls. But, the Clinton supporters (die hard) are angry. The pantsuits would probably get their panties in a wad if she was named VP and then of course the hot pants would join in. They want her to be number 1, not number 2.
I don't see Nunn. He is on the board of Chevron and that is big bad oil.
Anyone Obama picks will outshine by far with experience. And if he chooses Biden is that really "new politician" message he was trying to project?
I admit I know pretty much zero about Kaine and Evan B.
Maybe he will get crazy and choose Bill Clinton, Edwards or Kerry. Hee! Hee!

edwards. oh, oh. the cheat ticket. gore. the bore, go green, and eat ticket. kerry. the doomed elite ticket.
nunn. hey, nunn? he seems like he could be a helpful addition.
kaine is candidate lite. he tastes great, but he's definitely less filling. bayh is a little more satisfying, but could well be the al gore of the new millenium!
dunno, but this guy's in a corner right now, and i truly believe she's his only hope. kaine is a super blue suicide...
returning to sebelius, as kathryn jean lopez put it at NR, does Senator Infanticide really want Governor Abortion as his running mate?

I think that if Sebelius is on the ticket, that could be ugly. She would be considered "the other woman." And the supporters may feel that Hillary should have been the other woman. I also feel that the obortion (doctor) issue may put her out of the running.
If he picked Gore, I would probably just laugh and laugh and laugh some more.
They are the dems, so who knows who it will be. I think that it was lame that he announced that he had chosen some one, but he was not going to say. It seems to me that if it is dud, then this drama will really not mean anything.

hey, i hear Mad Mac is going to "stake out" the convention this year! good for him!!
if the dems really followed through on their own logic/principles, and applied everyone's own "standards" to his/her own respective practices (larry craig and others), well, then, there'd be no convention. how many carbon credits will it take to set off this convention? imagine the littering!

They keep saying the Governor of Kansas is on the short list. I think that would be a complete disaster for him. But, then again, I am not a fan of Biden and think that he would take him down, especially during the VP debate.
I saw this morning about Chet Edwards from Texas might be on the short list. Not too sure about him, but then I read this line and he was a dud in my book:
"Edwards, a nine-term congressman from Corpus Christi who serves on the House Appropriations and Budget committees, is a favorite of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who went on ABC’s “This Week” and said, “I hope he will be the nominee.”
Sorry, if he a favorite of Madame Speaker, then out the door you go!
I still would laugh if they dragged Green Ego Gore out there here and gave him the VP slot. He probably has no time to be VP. He has to fly around in his jet and tell us we are all going to shrivel up and melt away if we don't recycle.

okay, so what if we didn't guess right as to who it was. i thought for certain it would be the hillbill. why? because this guy's not going to make it to the white house any other way. and you'd like to think he knows he needs her on the ticket at this point.
i still believe that he really needed the hill on the ticket. i think this guy's candidacy is now completely doomed, and it's his own doing, unless she DECLINED the position, not wanting to attach herself to his mess any longer.
so we shouldn't be downhearted today! seriously. what we're looking at here, now, is a failure to communicate (laughing). a schism the size of a midwestern state has opened in the dem party, and this has to be the ONLY reason he selected biden, a friend to the hillary camp, and someone who seemed less than enthused about even taking this post w/obama. no one could have pulled this off, at this point, but the hillbill. it's too far gone in the polling for this time of year. the #s are a VERY bad sign for obama. biden has some star power, he is in with the crowd that we've heard the whispering about in terms of a scuttled convention... he does bring a lot to obama, not not enough. he doesn't bring the votes he desperately needs, and now, they'll quite possibly go to mccain. even if they don't, obama is going to lose this election w/o someone of hillary's power and stature, and biden has some of it, but not enough.

i really did think it WOULD be the hill. why? best option available. maybe the only option that would result in actual victory. the polls are unfamiliarly close. really a good idea to just ignore the hill, after all the votes she raked in? really odd, and just kind of bizarre w/that politico story about the vetting by allen. at first, when i heard this story, i just rolled my eyes and thought, oh, come on, she was running herself. the process has to be different. plus, i mean, candidates in the past have been destroyed with a not-fully-vetted veep candidate, so i would think it wouldn't preclude her. but after seeing the obama take a pass on a sure bet, you gotta wonder about this now. it's incredible to me that she didn't get the veep spot. i enjoy the politico a lot, and am really riveted by that story now.
the point you've noted, though, about her NOT WANTING to be vetted is a REALLY interesting one, and quite possible. would the obama want to come out and tell america hill took a pass on being on his ticket? how would THAT look? and there certainly wouldn't be any paper flying in that case. hmm. THAT wouldn't be leaked, not by either party in the dispute.
it all captures your attention, and i find it strange to watch. now feeling real sympathy for the hillbill, especially after seeing that no one in the media will acknowledge she has some nice outfits (and i'm not kidding), you do feel really bad for her.
what might really be going on here, though, is that she feels he will lose, and is biding her time. not nearly as sympathetic. just smart.
more and more, i'm thinking she would not take the spot. had it been obama's decision, some counterfeit paper would have been flying.
in any case, it's an unmitigated disaster for the dems.

No Hillary here.
I guess I go back to when she suspended her campaign. Dick Morris was on O'Reilly or H&C and he was explaining how the Clinton's think long term. He was explaining how Hillary wants McCain to win and Obama to lose and in 2012 she can come save America and of course the Democratic party.
Of course after the McCain win, Hillary would be standing in the shadows saying, "told you so."
I am not sure why Obama chose Biden. He is a senator and I thought a governor might help him more. But, Biden is nasty and that is about it. There really are no states for him to carry. Oh wait, they keep harping on his PA roots. Yes, and he moved to Delaware when he was 10. To me not a lot of bang for your buck.
Now I think that Obama did not want to touch Hillary. First off, lets be honest, Bill. And number two, they would pretty much take over. Maybe Obama did not want to go through all of that. But, I do think that Obama and the Democratic party have under estimated the Pantsuit brigade big time. I don't think they realize what they are in store for in Denver.
Between the pro Hillary/anti Obama groups and the group with the petition demanding that she is VP. I am not sure what this circus is going to be. Just that it will be a three ringer!

look, let's pretend you're a barack dem veep candidate, and i work at MSNBC. you just told me that thing about PA and CA. my analysis would be that you could carry PA, CA, the rustbelt, the sunbelt, the bible belt, and your own school books. and a one-hundred-pound weight.
(MSNBC: michelle says no bill clinton)
right, well not THIS year, anyway.
you know, isn't this bizarre? DNC Productions is responsible for marketing BOTH "The Bill and Hillary Show" AND "Barack and Friends." but they can't get them on the same ticket?
let's unify america?

I guess since I would be on the Obama ticket, I can't carry the oil belt!
It would be nice to hear the conversations that are going on behind the scenes. You know must be strange that you are a putting on a convention for your party and all over town you have protestors that are against your party. Hmmm...
They were listing the other day on TV all of the protestor/pro Hillary groups. Who knew? There are tons of them. I think they should all wear Hillary masks and pantsuits and march down the street to the convention hall.
The UNITY of this party oozes every day, more like erodes. Dean (scream machine) was on something this morning talking about how great everything is going to be...blah....blah...Does he even know where he is?

I say put on mask, slap on the pantsuit and rumble.
By the way did you see the idiot protestors? I thought they were supposed to be peaceful. Loved all of the nasty comments geared toward Fox News. They are so biased! Oh and NBC/MSNBC is so fair, that is correct, fair towards Obama.
