Spotlight on Faith-Based Initiatives

Thanks for publishing this list today. On the way to work today I was replaying an interview that I heard last week --- Walter Williams talking with Juan Williams about his book "Enough!"

As they discussed the challenges facing black communities --- youth crime, school dropouts, teen pregnancy, families without fathers, etc. --- and argued that government programs are not working, I concluded that what we need is thousands of effective faith-based groups (I imagine that this is obvious to most folks, but it filtered through to my brain this morning).

Faith-based groups changed the ugliest English slums in the 1700's. Faith-based groups abolished slavery in the British Empire and in America in the 1800's. Faith-based groups are changing prisons and educating immigrants and caring for the sick and helping kids with their homework in our day.

We've got the solution. We just need to do the work.
